Join Our Community! ANCC Magnet designated UPMC Passavant is currently hiring a Full-Time Supervisor to support the Sterilization Department at the McCandless location. Salary will be determined based upon education and experience. Shift Details: 3p - 11:30p Shifts will be further discussed during the interview. Each supervisor will be assigned designated weekends or holidays to be available by phone for urgent department needs While not physically present, the on-call supervisor is expected to respond to calls or texts in a timely manner If there is no scheduled coverage or in the event of unexpected call-offs, the on-call supervisor may be required to come in to support operations Desired qualifications and attributes: Skilled in computer use, including Microsoft Office Suite, email communication and digital documentation Advanced knowledge or Censitrac functions, reporting, data entry and troubleshooting system issues Ability to quickly identify and resolve equipment, software or workflow problems Strong ability to train, coach and mentor team members Willingness to work alongside staff on the floor when needs arise Capable of planning, organizing and executing departmental projects effectively Committed to continuous improvement, process enhancements and implementing best practices Serves as a go-to leader who fosters a supportive, positive environment to retain and engage staff Responsibilities: Communicates clearly with care teams; recommends practice changes and maintains thorough documentation Applies critical thinking to clinical and psychosocial issues; aligns work with safety and quality goals Builds compassionate patient experiences through strong relationships and mentoring Shares innovations and expertise via presentations, publications and cross team collaboration Uses performance improvement tools; integrates research and best practices into daily care Supports system-wide learning and change initiatives; leads by example and fosters teamwork Reduces instrument errors; streamlines processes and ensures timely turnaround Coaches staff on diversity, wellness and professional growth; coordinates education and certification Upholds UPMC core values through responsive, accurate and respectful service Develops and evaluates central sterile processing staff; manages scheduling, motivation and compliance Oversees instrument sterilization, tracking, ordering and set optimization Remains assessable for troubleshooting across OR and sterile processing High School Graduate or equivalent. 3 years' experience in central sterile processing. 2 years supervisory or team leader experience required. Ability to communicate effectively with peers, physicians, staff of other hospital departments, and outside contacts. Must complete 10 hours of continuing education to remain qualified as a Central Sterile Technician on an annual basis. Must be able to stand for all shift hours and be able to pick up, push, pull etc. 35 pounds.
