  • With a strong focus on customer service, facilitates community safety promotion awareness and outreach to residents through training sessions, workshops, community meetings and other engagements activities.
  • Establishes effective working relationships with community groups to promote safety and develop effective partnership with community stakeholders, residents and TCHC and TSHC staff.
  • Advises Regional Operations Managers with the identification and follow up on anti-social tenancy management issues within communities.
  • Liaises with Resident and Community Services and Operations team.
  • Builds and maintains strong work relationships with Toronto Police Service and the City of Toronto to enhance safety in TCHC and TSHC communities.
  • Engages with residents, neighbourhoods and or TCHC and TSHC communities coordinating community trauma support after critical incidents
Responsibilities

Service Facilitation

  • Conducts research obtaining and analyzing a variety of data sources, including but not limited to daily review of and evaluation of all incident reports, review of City of Toronto data, School Board information, etc, to identify current and emerging crime and social order issues in communities, forwarding summarized reports that involve further investigations, antisocial behaviour or criminal activity to the Investigative Unit.
  • Develops recommendations and strategies to address issues identified.
  • Provides community safety advice to Regional Operations Managers to ensure that community site specific issues and concerns as well as safety expectations and goals are met.
  • Compile and vet statistical information required by the regional GM’s, utilizing spreadsheets and the TCHC EasyTrac Internal Database System.
  • Liaises with the City of Toronto’s Crisis Response Team when major incidents occur (e.g., shootings) assisting in the coordination of the TCH response to such events.
  • Conduct CPTED safety audits and develop community safety plans for identified communities providing results to internal stakeholders for consideration.
  • Vet CSU reports to deliver actionable intelligence to the TCHC regions and other business units, without violating legislation.
  • Dissemination of information from the reports regarding tenancy management issues to General Managers or Contract Property Managers to be better equipped to manage tenancies.
  • Liaises with tenant facing operations staff, informing on tenancy issues identified by the CSU where tenants require services related to supporting vulnerability or mental health.
  • Assist in gathering information and responding to enquiries from the internal Complaints Investigator.

Planning & Program Development

  • Exceptional report writing and editing skills
  • Organize integrated safety meeting inclusive of OU staff and other external and internal stakeholders
  • Provides community safety advice to Regional Operations Managers to ensure that community site specific issues and concerns as well as safety expectations and goals are met.
  • Integrates activities with broader CSU responses to calls for service to address crime and social order issues
  • Consults weekly with CSU Staff Sergeant to ensure alignment of District resources (e.g., Community Patrol Officer assignments, programs, strategies) to identified community needs.
  • Coordinate community safety engagement initiative within assigned TCHC and TSHC portfolio.
  • Identifies safety and security risks to TCHC and TSHC and assists in developing and implementing strategies to mitigate the risk(s).
  • Prepares reports for internal and external audiences.
