About the Opportunity This is for three (3) open positions with the FirstEnergy Pennsylvania Electric Company, a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. The Supervisor, Distribution Engineering (LTIIP Design) coordinates and supervises the daily activities associated with the completion of Long Term Infrastructure Improvement Plan (LTIIP) designs for their assigned areas within FE PA; making decisions guided by policies, procedures, and the company's business plan. These positions can be located on site at any service center in the Penelec or Penn Power service territories in western and north Pennsylvania. Responsibilities include: Demonstrating a high level of safety commitment throughout day-to-day functions and strengthening their LTIIP design team’s commitment to safety. Ensuring timely and cost-effective completion of LTIIP designs for their assigned areas within FE PA to facilitate meeting of annual LTIIP construction schedules and in-servicing requirements. Creating an environment of accountability and a sense of urgency within their assigned areas of FE PA for meeting agreed-upon LTIIP design expectations and deadlines with internal and external stakeholders. Supervising complex engineering analysis and problem solving in relation to the LTIIP design function (including resolution of required permits, easements, and environmental reviews) for their assigned areas of FE PA. Supporting capital portfolio and LTIIP design leadership with timely LTIIP design estimates and plans for their assigned areas of FE PA. Driving LTIIP design continuous improvement for their assigned areas of FE PA. Leading efforts that increase LTIIP design productivity and goal accomplishment for their assigned areas of FE PA. Identifying, troubleshooting, and resolving LTIIP design problems on projects and/or processes in their assigned areas of FE PA before they become significant issues. Ensuring environmental stewardship and compliance with LTIIP designs for their assigned areas of FE PA. Reporting to the Manager, Engineering Services (LTIIP Distribution Design) on the progress of LTIIP design projects, and advising on issues that could impair the successful completion of projects. Supporting the Work Management and Transmission Project Management organizations on questions/issues with current and upcoming LTIIP design work for their assigned area of FE PA. Supporting the FirstEnergy hazard and damage assessment storm processes, including performing the duties of Hazard Coordinator or Damage Assessment Coordinator as needed. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited institution and minimum 5 years related work experience is required. OR a Two-year degree in Engineering Technology or related technical discipline, and a minimum of 8 years relevant work experience is required. Relevant work experience includes, but is not limited to: engineering design, reliability, system planning, substation construction and maintenance, distribution construction and maintenance, right of way acquisition, asset management, new business, joint use, etc. Advanced degree is a plus. Professional Engineering (PE) certification is a plus. Previous supervisory experience preferred. Experience in process/project development, planning/analysis, and performance reporting. Proven ability to identify, troubleshoot and resolve problems on projects and/or processes. In-depth knowledge of information systems such as Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word required; working knowledge of SAP, CREWS, and GIS preferred. Customer request work scheduling (CREWS) navigation skills a plus, including knowledge of work request design requirements, material reservation criteria, CREWS billing categories, date management and lock down procedure. Working knowledge or the ability to learn the following: GIS; Construction and Material Standards; company's Distribution Policies & Procedures; PADOT and county permit requirements for pole sets, highway occupancy and road openings.
