Title: Education Supervisor Location: 4822 N Broadway Chicago, IL 60640 Schedule: On-site, Monday to Friday (8:00am-4:30pm) Summary:  The Education Supervisor provides direct oversight and instructional leadership to the education team, including certified teachers and teachers’ assistants. This is a non-teaching role focused on supervision, coaching, and support of instructional staff. The Education Supervisor reports to the Associate Director of Education & Recreation and plays a key role in coordinating the HHCS educational vision across classrooms and learning environments.   This position requires experience or a strong interest in instructional coaching, staff development, and trauma-informed leadership. The Education Supervisor ensures that classroom instruction, student engagement, and academic programming meet HHCS standards and align with Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) guidelines, Chicago Public Schools (CPS) expectations, and Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) education requirements. Amusement Parks, etc.   Essential Functions: Duties & Responsibilities   INSTRUCTIONAL OVERSIGHT: * Supervises and supports certified teachers and teachers’ assistants in delivering high-quality instruction. * Ensures lesson plans and instructional practices align with Illinois Learning Standards, CPS frameworks, and other relevant academic standards. * Supports the design and implementation of engaging, differentiated lesson plans aligned with one or more of the following: * Illinois Learning Standards * Common Core State Standards * WIDA Standards for English Language Development (ELD) for multilingual learners * ACTFL World-Readiness Standards for world languages * Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) * Illinois Arts Learning Standards * Illinois Social Science Standards (based on the C3 Framework) * Illinois Physical Education & Health Standards (with SHAPE America national standards where applicable) * Illinois Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) Standards * Monitors classroom environments for safety, engagement, and instructional effectiveness.   STAFF DEVELOPMENT & COACHING * Provides ongoing coaching, feedback, and professional development to education staff. * Conducts regular observations and performance evaluations. * Facilitates team meetings, PLCs, and training sessions focused on trauma-informed care, youth development, and instructional best practices.   PROGRAM COORDINATION * Collaborates with the Associate Director of Education & Recreation to develop and implement academic schedules, enrichment activities, and field trips. * Coordinates with the case managers, clinicians, and recreation staff to support holistic student development. * Ensures compliance with documentation, attendance tracking, and reporting requirements.   Student Support & Intervention * Assists in identifying students with unique learning needs and coordinating appropriate supports. * Supports behavior management strategies and restorative practices across classrooms. * Promotes inclusive practices and equitable access to learning opportunities.   Compliance & Quality Assurance * Ensures HHCS including instructional units and assessments are modeled after ISBE and CPS standards. * Maintains accurate records and contributes to audits, reviews, and reporting processes. * Upholds confidentiality and ethical standards in all interactions.   Supervisory Responsibilities (if applicable): Certified Teacher, Teachers’ Assistant, and other positions as assigned.   Education and Experience: * Bachelor’s degree in education, social work, psychology, or a related field. * Minimum of 2 years of experience in instructional leadership, classroom teaching, or youth programming, including at least 1 year in a supervisory role, preferably in shelter care or residential settings. * Demonstrated ability to coach and supervise staff, lead professional development, and support trauma-informed, culturally responsive instruction.   PREFERRED: * Master’s degree in education, administration, or related field. * Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with appropriate endorsements. * Special Education endorsement or experience supporting students with diverse learning needs. * Experience in instructional coaching, curriculum development, or leading PLCs. * Bilingual (Spanish/English or other relevant languages). * Strong understanding of the Office or Refugees and Resettlement (ORR) education requirements, Illinois Learning Standards, and CPS instructional frameworks.     ALTERNATIVE CONSIDERATION: Candidates without a PEL may be considered if they demonstrate: * Extensive experience in instructional leadership, staff supervision, and pedagogical strategy in shelter care or youth development settings. * Demonstrated leadership skills in educational settings * Proven success in managing educational programs that serve vulnerable or trauma-impacted populations. * Commitment to pursuing relevant certification or professional development aligned with HHCS and ORR standards.   Certifications/Licenses: * Background check required.   Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (K/S/A): * Excellent communication, All hours will be worked in person.
