Job Description

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of two years of supervisory experience in a related role.
  • Availability of 16 to 30 hours per week, as required by business volumes.
  • Flexible schedule, with availability primarily in evenings and weekends. Must also be available on major holidays (Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve, Mother’s Day, Stampede) and designated blackout dates throughout the year.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English (speak, read, and understand).
  • Post-secondary education in hospitality or tourism is an asset.
  • Previous experience in a unionized environment is an asset.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to work independently, self-motivated, and self-directed.
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
    Additional Information
Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the day-to-day aspect of banquet operations to ensure events are executed at a luxury level (maintenance before, during and after the events)
  • Providing engaging and luxury service to our guests and colleagues
  • Supervise the event team and ensure service standards are followed
  • Liaising with clients to ensure all function details are correct and adhered to
  • Conduct pre-shift briefings with colleagues for each event
  • Process daily banquet bills
  • Accountable to complete daily opening and closing duties
  • Responsible to ensure all our guests leave with a positive event experience
  • Assist in supporting the financial success of the department by monitoring productivity
  • To ensure that all equipment, fixtures, and furniture of the department are kept in the best repair possible and are used in a safe and proper manner
  • Maintains a safe and clean work environment and ensures that all Health & Safety standards are met, procedures followed and has the knowledge and tools to work safely.
  • Maintain awareness of, and ensuring compliance with all food safety & hygiene policies and procedures are followed at all times.
  • Maintain awareness of, and ensuring compliance with all sustainability and food waste reduction/diversion policies, procedures and programs at the hotel.
  • To follow all department and hotel policies, procedures and service standards
  • Execute all other duties as assigned by the Director of Event Operations or their designate
