Description POSITION SUMMARY: The primary purpose of a Housekeeping Supervisor is to assist in managing the operations of the Housekeeping Department and to ensure a positive, forward-thinking, and safe environment. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES: Top 5 Specific Job Functions: Supervise the staff on all assigned floors and ensure all rooms and work areas are cleaned and maintained to Plaza standards. Ensure all staff members adhere to Plaza and Housekeeping policies Maintain the integrity of the room inspection program for Guest Room Attendants, Floor Supervisors, and Assistant Executive Housekeepers Provide the direction for a positive, empowering work environment by setting an example and consistency of day-to-day work habits Work closely with the Status Board Operators and Scheduling clerks to ensure guests receive clean rooms promptly Maintain records and submit orders, including repairs needed, lost and found items, and quality of work completed by employees Other Specific Job Functions: Establish a good work environment that promotes teamwork, performance feedback, mutual respect, and employee satisfaction. Maintain confidentiality of department affairs Maintain the global strategic plan consistent with the vision of the property Stay current, knowledgeable, and abreast of the latest in industry equipment, technology, and techniques Monitor the issuance of supplies for the floor. Responsible for the overall usage of products as directed by the budget Responsible for all requests made by Front Desk, Executive Requests, Etc. Instruct employees and new hires on the products used for cleaning in accordance with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) chemical Right to Know standards Perform and submit the required number of room and floor inspections to the Assistant Executive Housekeeper or Executive Housekeeper Calls-in/Enter status of all rooms, work orders, and carpets to be shampooed Utilize proper procedures for entering/cleaning a guest room Monitor the time clock when clocking employees in and out Complete daily worksheets accurately and promptly Issue and retrieve all master keys, cell phones, and two-way radios at the beginning and end of each shift Maintain the integrity of a guest room inspection program regularly Calls-in/Enter status of all rooms, work orders, and carpets to be shampooed Utilize proper procedures for entering/cleaning a guest room Monitor the time clock when clocking employees in and out Complete daily worksheets accurately and promptly Maintain the integrity of a guest room inspection program regularly This job description in no way states or implies that these are the only duties to be performed by the employee in this position. Requirements EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Required: Diploma or equivalent Able to lift 50lb Ability to stand/walk for long periods of time At least one year of experience in a Housekeeping Department Working knowledge of cleaning equipment, supplies, and chemicals Leadership style that is results-oriented Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize Well-developed interpersonal skills as well as strong verbal and written communication skills Professional appearance and demeanor Ability to take initiative and exhibit flexibility Must be able to communicate effectively in English, in both written and oral forms. Preferred: Previous experience managing employees represented by a Collective Bargaining Agreement Ability to communicate in Spanish Previous experience working in a similar resort setting KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES: Excellent customer service skills. Interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with all business contacts. Ability to effectively communicate in English, in both oral and written forms. Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping. Physical stamina and proper mental attitude to work under pressure; work indoors and outdoors, as well as being exposed to hot/cold surfaces, steam, and wet floors. Most work tasks are performed indoors; however, there are events where outdoor activities are required. Indoor temperatures are moderate and controlled by internal environmental systems.
