Job Description Supervises and coordinates the staff and daily operations of the Laundry and Linen department. Facilitates laundry washing procedures and distribution of clean linen to patient areas. Job Responsibility   * Promotes Linens department goals by selecting, motivating, and training capable team members. * Leads the activities of assigned Linens team members by communicating and providing guidance toward achieving department objectives. * Supervises, hires, trains, disciplines, and evaluates the performance of staff; ensures performance appraisals are completed in a timely manner. * Prioritizes, schedules, assigns, and monitors work to optimize operational service. * Analyzes, recommends, implements, and monitors approved work-flow changes. * Ensures timely execution of all procedures to facilitate availability of linen and garments in proper hospital areas. * Inspects laundry after washing to ensure correct amounts of soap, bleach, and softener have been used. * Monitors washed linen for stains and tears, returning laundry back for additional cleaning or repairs, as needed. * Evaluates laundry equipment, checking for proper air temperature, steam pressure and temperature control; recommends maintenance, repair, upgrade or replacement, as required. * Ensures operating compliance with hospital and government regulations. * Takes inventory of supplies and maintains adequate stock levels; generates and maintains various department records and reports on operational performance to management. * Performs related duties as required.
