Health Sciences North (HSN) is seeking an innovative individual for the position of Supervisor, Medical Imaging Informatics to direct and coordinate the efficient and effective day to day operations of the HSN Medical Imaging Informatics services. Assist with planning and contribute to improving efficiencies of the Regional Imaging Informatics systems and administrative/clerical services.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of a Diploma in a Medical Radiation Technology or Imaging Technology from an accredited college. We are looking for someone with a minimum of five (5) years’ experience working in a Medical Imaging Informatics department within a health care environment and a minimum of two (2) years’ working in a leadership/supervisory role. Candidates that possess training or recent experience project and data management are preferred.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING:

  1. Minimum of a Diploma in a Medical Radiation Technology or Imaging Technology from an accredited college.
  2. Current Certificate of Registration in good standing with the American Board of Imaging Informatics is preferred.
  3. Ministry of Labour “Worker Health and Safety Awareness in 4 Steps” training certificate is required.

EXPERIENCE:

  1. Minimum of five (5) years’ experience working in a Medical Imaging Informatics department within a health care environment.
  2. Minimum of two (2) years’ working in a leadership/supervisory role.
  3. Training or recent experience with project management is preferred.
  4. Experience working with data management software is preferred.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  1. Demonstrated knowledge of PACS systems administration and integrations (e.g. HL7 and DICOM).
  2. Demonstrated knowledge of modality interfacing to Radiology Information System (RIS).
  3. Demonstrated knowledge of various internal programs requiring PACS services.
  4. Demonstrated knowledge of North Eastern Ontario Network (NEON), North Eastern Health Services Alliance (NEHSA) and Northern and Eastern Ontario Diagnostic Imaging Network (NEODIN) imaging support services.
  5. Demonstrated project management, organizational, planning, leadership and analytical skills.
  6. Demonstrated effective presentation skills.
  7. Demonstrated ability to develop, monitor, administer and report on budgets.
  8. Demonstrated ability to coach, advise and teach others using the principles of adult learning.
  9. Demonstrated training, experience or utilization of quality improvement methodology for process improvement.
  10. Demonstrated ability to independently identify issues, plan improvements, measure success and continue improvement.
  11. Knowledge of relevant legislation and principles of management, hospital committee structure, conflict management and resolution, system needs analysis and organizational assessment.
  12. Ability to use tact and discretion in dealing with health care providers and employees.
  13. Demonstrated excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office software (e.g. Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook) and patient information systems.

Responsibilities
  1. Assign tasks to the Picture Archiving Communication System (PACS) team to ensure resource allocation and project targets are met and improvement is on-going.
  2. Oversee the coordination and operations of Medical Imaging clerical/administrative services.
  3. Ensure that the Medical Imaging registration process meets HSN, Ministry of Health and Long Term Care (MOHLTC) and Ontario Health Cancer Care Ontario (OH-CCO) standards and requirements.
  4. Develop operating standards, policies and procedures, compile and analyze support data, and recommend procedural and educational changes as required.
  5. Assist with financial performance, recommend action plans for budgeting and evaluate opportunities for additional revenue generation and savings.
  6. Ensure the protection of confidential information in compliance with legislative requirements.
  7. Ensure a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors, investigate, report, debrief and take or direct corrective action as required on incidents.
  8. Evaluate patient care and satisfaction on an ongoing basis and formulate solutions for improvement.
  9. Oversee staff, project and improvement work related to Medical Imaging technologies.
  10. Manage human resources which include: recruitment, selection and training.
  11. Guide, motivate, schedule, monitor and supervise staff, develop standards of performance, evaluate performance and make recommendations on disciplinary action as required.
  12. Oversee the work of others in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), its regulations, and HSN policies.
  13. Determine and align improvement projects with HSN’s Strategic Plan; monitor and adjust to achieve goal outcomes.
  14. Participate in the accreditation process and work to ensure that the program and HSN achieve, maintain and continually improve upon their accredited status.
  15. Teach, coach and lead staff in the development and monitoring of quality indicators and improvement initiatives.
  16. Engage in and foster professional development of all staff and provide opportunities for learning within budgeted resources.
  17. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders/organizations/community groups to achieve program objectives, integrate and link services and foster partnerships across the continuum of service delivery.
  18. Participate in education and training specific to current, relevant federal and provincial health and safety legislation, standards and guidelines.
  19. Represent the department or program on various committees and in meetings as required.
  20. Perform other duties as required.
