Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

This role is responsible for managing a large team of operators to establish and maintain a safe, standardised mine site environment, working closely with the Autonomous Haul fleet.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead and promote a culture of care by being a visible safety leader; engage, develop, and coach the Mine Services teams.
  • Collaborate with the other shift Supervisor to ensure compliance with the Mine Safety and Inspection Act and Mines Safety Inspection Regulations.
  • Maximise operational compliance by ensuring all activities under supervision align with the operational plan and work instructions.
  • Provide daily leadership by allocating duties to achieve the plan and supporting all development targets.
  • Support and lead a dynamic, diverse, and skilled team of operators.
  • Model positive and inclusive leadership, fostering a strong team culture.
  • Conduct routine personal inspections and monitor equipment performance and compliance with operating procedures.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders to achieve business objectives.

About You

  • Confident communicator capable of effectively engaging and driving team performance.
  • Experience leading, coaching, and mentoring employees with diverse skill sets.
  • Proven ability to build a competent, engaged, and disciplined team.
  • Experience in large-scale, open-pit Autonomous Iron Ore mining operations, including knowledge of auxiliary equipment, haul road conditioning, and design.
  • Solid understanding of the Mines Safety & Inspection Act and Regulations.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills across all workgroups.
  • Hold a minimum of a C class manual driver’s licence.
  • Lead by example with confidence; hold yourself and others accountable while coaching on ‘Safety Leadership.’
  • High attention to detail and administrative skills for accurate pit design reviews and effective weekly plan management.
  • Familiarity with Human Resource and Performance Management processes.
  • Mining Engineering or related tertiary qualifications are desirable but not essential.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and operating systems.
  • High understanding of incident/event investigation procedures.
  • Confident in meeting daily routines and delivering results aligned with key performance indicators.
  • Experienced in delivering quality risk assessments and managing controlled, safe work environments.
  • Familiar with process confirmation activities, workplace inspections, and audits to comply with site standards.
  • Appreciation for managing a fleet of graders, dozers, loaders, excavators involved in pattern preparation, road maintenance, land clearing, mine closure, and project works.
