Overview Shift: Full-Time, Days, Monday - Friday, for 80 hours per pay period. You will be required to flex hours to unit needs - 5N Med/Surg. The Supervisor Nursing RN provides leadership support as part of the unit management team, supporting the Nurse Manager in their responsibility for the development, implementation, and evaluation of care provided on the patient care department(s), consistent with the organizations strategic plan, goals, and objectives. Interviews, orients, trains, schedules, evaluates and coaches/disciplines team members. Coordinates scheduling and maintains appropriate staffing levels and effectively communicates with others to ensure staffing requirements are met. This position may assume a patient care assignment on occassions when RN staff are not availabe to meet the department needs. Communication: Follows up on concerns and notifies Nurse Manager or appropriate designee of any concernss that have the potential to escalate or lead to Risk Management. Builds trusting, collaborative relationships with team members, peers, providers, and administration to advance the core patient business strategy. Supports and empowers team members to act with appropriate responsibility for the work processes and work environment of which they are a part. Professional Development: Coordinates orientation program and training of newly hired team members. Coordinates team member education/in-services/specialized skilled training programs including competencies. Promotes and supports activities contributing to the professional development of team members. Evaluates and guides team members through coaching, provides immediate feedback, and responds to difficult inquiries and problems. Provides feedback and input to Manager/Director for ongoing performance management. Completes and issues performance evaluations in collaboration with the Manager/Director. Continuously learning in order to improve effectiveness as a leader. Performance Improvement: Completes patient and team member rounding to meet standards. Assists with performance improvement activities and implementation of action plans. Completes patient safety related activities such as incident report management, monitoring environment of care, and ensuring regulatory compliance. Assists in the control, coordination, distribution and evaluation of human, material, and fiscal resources in the assigned patient care area. Engages team members to use data to improve quality and patient satisfaction. Qualifications Education: Associate's in Nursing is required, Bachelors in Nursing is preferred. Work Experience: Must have one (1) year experience in a clinical area or leadership experience. Certification/License: Current licensure in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in Iowa. Must possess and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or within three (3) months from date of hire. Must possess and maintain current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification or within three (3) months from date of hire.
