The opportunity: The Supervisor, Changemaker Leadership Program plays a pivotal role within our Outdoor Education team, providing both strategic direction and hands-on leadership. This position is responsible for overseeing the continued growth and evolution of the Changemaker Leadership program, while also actively facilitating outdoor education and leadership experiences. Launched in 2025, the Youth Changemaker Leadership program is a weeklong summer initiative designed to inspire and equip young people with the skills, confidence, and mindset to create meaningful change in their schools and communities. Secured funding now supports the expansion of this program into a multi-level, year-round model serving multiple age groups. This includes integrating Changemaker curriculum into existing YMCA programs, developing additional program streams, and delivering an annual Changemaker conference. The Supervisor will lead this growth by designing and implementing program strategies, hiring and training facilitation staff, and providing day-to-day program oversight. As a lead facilitator, the Supervisor will model excellence in program delivery and maintain an active presence with participants and staff. In this role, you will: Support the facilitation of new and existing outdoor education and leadership programs throughout Simcoe County. Time allocation for the role is approximately: 50% Changemaker Leadership program development and delivery 25% Outdoor Education programs 25% Leadership programs Demonstrate strong commitment to the mission and core values of the YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka and YMCA of Canada, representing the organization with professionalism and integrity. Build and maintain positive, inclusive relationships with participants, staff, volunteers, and community partners. Engage external organizations, funders, government agencies, and corporate partners to develop strategic partnerships that advance program impact and sustainability. Recruit, hire, onboard, and support program staff and volunteers, providing training, mentorship, coaching, goal setting, and performance management as required. Oversee program quality through regular evaluation and outcomes measurement, using data to strengthen curriculum, improve delivery, and assess impact on youth development. Prepare concise reports for internal leadership and external stakeholders, highlighting outcomes, successes, and opportunities for growth and funding. Facilitate year-round outdoor education and leadership programming, including school-based programs, camps, leadership initiatives, and national or international exchange opportunities. Support the development of resources, processes, and quality standards that enhance participant experience and strengthen engagement with the YMCA brand. Actively gather and share participant, staff, and community feedback, celebrating successes while identifying and addressing service gaps to support high retention and satisfaction. Collect and analyze outcomes data, track trends, and contribute to assessing program relevance, sustainability, and long-term impact, including identifying funding opportunities. Oversee aspects of the Chagemaker program budget. Participate in YMCA trainings, committees, and meetings, maintaining awareness of YMCA programs, systems, and strategic priorities. Lead team huddles, meetings, and trainings, and travel to schools, YMCA centres, and community locations as required to support program delivery and promotion. Perform other related duties as assigned. You bring: Post-secondary education in recreation, education, business or other related field Experience designing curricula and conducting evaluations to refine training processes. Experience mentoring or working with groups of youth (i.e. camps, leadership, students, etc.) and developing staff. 1-2 years of proven leadership in adapting and delivering programs, particularly youth-focused initiatives, and managing pilot programs. Demonstrated experience in strategic partnerships and collaboration, particularly with educational institutions or community organizations. Strong ability to foster innovation and create pathways to help people to develop and implement new ideas, using creative problem-solving approaches. Experience in evaluating programs and using data to inform improvements, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities. Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to deliver engaging presentations and prepare detailed reports. Skills in recruiting and sales, strong interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to build relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. Experience in supervisory roles. Strong public relations, marketing and communications skills. Quality service training and experience. Understanding of all relevant standards and legislation regarding the safe and appropriate operation of an outdoor centre and camp program including OCA, OPHEA and YMCA CQRP. Strong work ethic with administrative skills. Standard First Aid with CPR C/AED certification. Access to a car and have a valid G or higher level of driver’s license. Prior camping, outdoor education and/or recreational experience as a supervisor Ability to work closely and share leadership with other staff as a team player.
