POSITION SUMMARY:

The Supervisor of Environmental Services plays a key leadership role in supporting the Director of Environmental Services by overseeing housekeeping and laundry operations. This position is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for residents, staff, and visitors, in alignment with the facility’s mission and regulatory requirements.
In partnership with the Nursing Home Administrator, the Supervisor ensures the effective use of resources and promotes a high standard of living through quality housekeeping and laundry services.

Responsibilities
  • Lead, schedule, and supervise housekeeping and laundry staff to ensure daily tasks are completed efficiently and in line with facility standards.
  • Organize departmental operations to meet goals in a timely and effective manner.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety guidelines when handling cleaning chemicals. Maintain original containers and consult product labels or Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) as needed.
  • Develop and implement infection control procedures for the handling, storage, and transportation of linens to prevent contamination and cross-contamination.
  • Maintain accurate linen inventory levels and ensure a consistent supply of clean linens is available throughout all facility units.
  • Inspect linen stock regularly, replacing any that is worn, stained, or damaged.
  • Create and manage processes to ensure residents’ personal laundry is handled with care and returned promptly and undamaged.
  • Promptly address and resolve resident concerns or complaints related to housekeeping and laundry services.
  • Apply sound management skills to staff supervision, budget development, and resource allocation.
  • Lead recruitment efforts, conduct staff evaluations, and take appropriate personnel actions in alignment with facility policies and employment laws.
  • Promote and protect the rights, dignity, and individuality of each resident in all interactions.
  • Serve as a role model for staff in maintaining respectful and compassionate resident care practices.
  • Ensure consistent room readiness for admissions during 3–11 shifts.
  • Oversee cleanliness of all dining areas after meals, ensuring tables are sanitized and floors are swept and mopped.
  • Ensure restrooms are clean, sanitary, and fully stocked at all times.
  • Verify that all units are properly stocked with linen for each shift.
  • Be available to work weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts as required.
  • Demonstrate punctuality and reliability in meeting shift and facility needs.
