SUPERVISOR OF READING, ENGLISH, AND LANGUAGE ARTS   To provide administrative, instructional, and programmatic leadership for reading, English, and language arts.   ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND  RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE   These items are intended only as examples of the various types of job duties to be performed; specific position assignments will vary depending on the needs of the department.  The omission of specific duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is a similar, related, or logical assignment to the position. * Provides leadership for a comprehensive, coherent, and effective Pre-K-12 reading, English, and language arts program (RELA). * Initiates and coordinates curriculum and assessment development, implementation, and evaluation for the Pre-K-12 RELA program. * Participates in the teacher appraisal process in conjunction with school-based Instructional Leadership Teams. * Plans, conducts, and evaluates professional development to promote and support the implementation of high-quality RELA instruction. * Works collaboratively with the Office of Human Resources and school-based Instructional Leadership Teams to recruit, select, and place teachers. * Evaluates course and program specific instructional materials and technology and assists schools in selecting and purchasing appropriate instructional materials. * Serves as Harford County Public Schools liaison to the Maryland State Department of Education, Harford Community College, and other agencies and groups pertaining to all RELA-related issues. * Makes recommendations regarding the implementation of RELA policies, administrative guidelines, programs, and resources. * Prepares and presents reports about programs related to RELA under the direction of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment leadership. * Maintains personal content expertise and knowledge of current research and best practices in RELA curriculum, instruction, and assessment. * Participates in the acquisition, utilization, and evaluation of grants to support RELA education. * Supervises and evaluates the duties, activities and performance of assigned personnel. * Performs other work-related duties as assigned.     SALARY     * This is a twelve-month position with 20 days of annual leave.
