Job Summary: Oversees all functions within patient access. Provides technical leadership while performing escalated or complex duties. Monitors department efficiencies and assumes responsibility for meeting departmental goals. Implements plans for improvement when needed. Maintains policies and procedures. Supervises and directs the activities of various levels of assigned personnel using both professional and supervisory discretion and independent judgment. Job Requirements: Education and Work Experience: * Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Required * Five years' patient access experience: Preferred Licenses/Certifications: * Certified Revenue Cycle Representative (CRCR) - Healthcare Financial Management Association: Preferred Essential Functions: * Supervises employees in patient access services and oversees all day-to-day activities and processes. Strategically aligns staff to support workload while meeting budget requirements. Exercises independent judgment in recruiting, training, coaching, supervising and responsibly directing assigned staff. * Supervises insurance and verification authorization staff, including pre-registration activities. Ensures all patient data is accurate and that all systems work efficiently. Monitors trends in volume, errors, cancellations and other appointment-driven reporting. Plans and develops new systematic approaches to maximize upfront collections and improve/maintain accuracy in registrations. * Conducts performance reviews and provides input on direct reports for human resource decisions such as hiring, promotions and disciplinary actions. Participates in the development of employees. Delegates the work appropriately, provides clear expectations and follows up to ensure progress and overcome roadblocks. Identifies associates and team priorities based on business direction and adjusts when needed. * Leads by example and shares knowledge and experiences with associates and team. Models a respectful work environment, creates accountability and recognizes accomplishments. Provides timely feedback to encourage success and connects opportunities for associates’ development. Identifies top talent to achieve the desired results. Promotes and builds a diverse yet cohesive team to accomplish objectives and aligns associates' skills to fill gaps. * Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
