POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Plant Superintendent, the Production Supervisor will be required to achieve/meet requirements for safety, regulatory compliance, environment, quality, customer service and cost. As part of the Plant’s leadership team, contributes to building and maintaining a culture of continuous improvement of processes, efficiencies, line reliability, and productivity and ensures that any issues are handled appropriately using the standard communication plan. The Supervisor provides strong, values-based leadership and direction to the hourly employees.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Provide direct supervision to associates in department and keep employees oriented to their job functions, ensuring they have the necessary knowledge to complete the tasks assigned.
  • Maximizes production plan capabilities and implement procedures to ensure productivity, quality, cost, efficiencies, yield and equipment reliability are achieved.
  • Drive manufacturing excellence and company goals by communicating expectations, planning, monitoring, evaluating and delivering results.
  • Schedule and plan vacation for employees without affecting production.
  • Implements cost-saving strategies and continuous improvement throughout the process.
  • Responsible for meeting and reporting on daily production targets.
  • Providing effective leadership and direction to hourly employees (coaching, cross-training, addressing and resolution of HR-related issues and concerns).
  • Communicates with and assists other manufacturing departments as needed.
  • Completing the daily production schedule for their department.
  • Evaluates the condition of production equipment to make sure there are ready for optimal production.
  • Utilizes problem solving techniques, teamwork building strategies, process control, and continuous process improvement tools to meet or exceed the facility key operating statistics.
  • Communication and an on-going reinforcement of production performance indicators/requirements (i.e. health and safety; food safety and quality, customer service, cost, etc.).
  • Ensure Quality Compliance with all HACCP, GMP and BRC policies are practiced and followed.
  • Assistance with food safety investigation.
  • CCP and other documentation verification.
  • Compiles and analyzes production records to maintain the flow production.
  • Embraces and promotes Sofina’s Blueprint in all areas.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Post-secondary education diploma in management studies, food science, engineering or equivalent experience is preferred.
  • 3 – 5 years of management/supervisor experience is necessary.
  • Knowledge and compliance of CFIA regulations.
  • Knowledge of OHSA and Regulations as it pertains to the work.
  • WSIB Certification Training and First Aid Training is an asset.
  • Lean manufacturing and 5S experience.
  • Excellent skills in MS Office Suite.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • The ideal candidate must have strong supervisory skills, people skills, strong communication and listening skills and a team-oriented attitude.
  • Good organizational, interpersonal, motivational and coaching skills are required.
  • Experience in a unionized meat or food processing environment is considered an asset.
  • Strong adherence to meeting productivity, quality, and safety requirements.
