The Opportunity FedExForum and Memphis Grizzlies Public Safety Supervisor is the direct supervisor of an assigned shift, which may consist of Officers and reports to the Event Security Manager / Arena Security Director. Enforces State, Local laws and ordinances, and rules and regulations. Ensures the safety and protection of staff, visitors, patrons, and property. Employees in this position receive direct supervision from the Manager of Public Safety. Employees in this position are responsible for the operation of Public Safety, and the supervision of an assigned shift and their duties. In This Role You Will Ensures all guests are greeted upon arrival and first impression standards are met. Schedules staff while controlling labor costs, minimizing overtime hours, and ensuring full coverage. Ensure staff maintain designated area of responsibility during scheduled event time, to include care of guests and safety of facilities. Ensure staff adheres to Memphis Grizzlies/FedExForum and Memphis Police Department dress and grooming standards for each event worked. Promotes personal guest relations and ensures all arena guests receive a consistently high standard of service and quality. Monitors assigned areas, including assisting guests and ensuring all guest concerns are taken care of in a friendly and timely manner. Advises, and immediately follows up with Arena Security Director/Event Security Manager with any reported problems or concerns. Assist Guest Relations and Event Security Staff in ensuring facility standards and rules are followed by all persons in the facility. Assists with facility alcohol management guidelines. As approved by Executive-in-Charge assists with ejections as necessary. Understands and assists in implementation of facility Emergency Procedures and Disaster Plan Assist with scalper, bootleg, or panhandler management as requested by FedExForum. Make arrests as dictated by federal, state, county, and city statute in consultation with Executive-In-Charge Assist in compliance of individuals on FedExForum Authorization of Agency list. Interpret and apply city, state and federal policies, procedures, laws, and regulations. The Experience You Will Bring Must be a certified Peace Officer in the State of Tennessee Must be currently employed as a Peace Officer in the State of Tennessee with jurisdiction in the City of Memphis and in good standing with the department. Must not be on suspension from duties with department. Must be able to work as a Peace Officer through Secondary Employment Must be available to start shifts as early as 3:00AM, and end shifts as late as 1:00AM. Minimum of five years of supervisory experience as a Peace Officer preferably with the City of Memphis Police Department Must be certified in CPR and First Aid through the American Red Cross or its equivalent. Ability to work in potential high stress emergency situations under the direction of managers of FedExForum. Strong oral, written communication, and interpersonal skills. Must be people-oriented and enjoy working in a team-oriented environment. Must have the ability to relate professionally with all levels of staff, guests, clients, and VIP’s. An energetic, positive, and self-motivated person. Must be diplomatic, mature, and professional. And of course, must have a passion for the sports and entertainment industry. Physical/Cognitive Requirements With or without reasonable accommodations: Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk, working on a computer, walking, and standing Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times. Ability to travel throughout the facility, as required. Must possess visual activity, i.e.: close, distance, and color vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Ability to work in a variety of environments, including but not limited to heights, elevators, darkened arena, around crowds, loud noise, and flashing lights. Continuous stretching, standing, and walking to include up and downstairs. Nice to Have: Knowledge of sports and entertainment, specifically NBA basketball.
