Title: Supervisor, Safety & Security Entity: Aga Khan University Location: Karachi Introduction to the Aga Khan University: Chartered in 1983, Aga Khan University (AKU) is a private, autonomous, and self-governing international university with 13 teaching sites in 6 countries distributed across three continents. Job Roles/Responsibilities: Lead and supervise a team of guards in his area of responsibility and ensure that the deputed staff carry out their duties effectively in line with the security program policies. Provide security assistance to the staff, students, visitors and patients and own staff when called for. Carryout periodic check of the guards on duty to ensure alertness and vigilance. Promptly report any incident, fire, accident and / or theft to the ASC or Control supervisor on duty. Exercise vigilance and see that no unauthorized person enters the area of responsibility. Keep the Control Supervisor informed of all security matters within his area of responsibility. Perform any security duty assigned by the DSO's and Control Supervisor. Assist Security Guards in public dealing and when assistance is sought by them Assist and escort Police and Law Enforcement personnel with in AKU premises when asked to do so by the DSO / Control Supervisor. Carry out initial investigation of security incidents taking place in their tenure of duty when directed by the Control Supervisor and write reports. When performing the duty of ER supervisor cover the Medico Legal cases which arrive at the ER as per the ML Policy. Escort employees and students outside AKU on required basis. Assess security need and control employee and visitor access to premises and ensures authorized entry only. Provide security assistance to the staff, students, visitors and patients as per institutional policies. Ensure quick and effective response to all security emergency calls as and when required. Perform any other Tasks assigned by Asst. Security Coordinator /Coordinator/Asst. Manager/ Manager Security Operations. Should be able to perform VIP duties on requirement. Be able to perform administrative tasks on requirement. Requirements: Matric, however intermediate or higher will be preferred. Courses on CCTV, firefighting and safety would be preferred. Minimum of 3 years of service as Junior Commissioned Officer rank in Pakistan Armed Forces, Rangers, Frontier Corps, Frontier Constabulary, Coast guard or Police. Experience as Surveillance Supervisor/ Operator/ Instructor/ will be preferred. Experience and service with SSG & Intelligence units would be preferred. Experience in Occupational Health and Safety at hospitals will be preferred. Experience of working in an international organization like UN will be preferred. SSG/ Anti-Terrorist Training is desirable. Efficiency in handling small arms i.e. Rifles and Pistols. Good Military bearings. Efficiency in handling communication equipment i.e. Wireless sets & Telephones. Possesses good Supervisory and problem solving skills. Proficient in communication, investigation and negotiation skills. Working knowledge of English and use of computer. Good knowledge of firefighting drills and equipment. Ability to drive preferred.
