OVERVIEW:

We are a family owned business, which has grown rapidly over the last five years, developing from predominantly supplying into food service and wholesale, to now having launched products with several major retailers. We pride ourselves on being reactive to our customers needs, therefore flexibility is key to this role, and to every role within the company. In addition to your main role, you may become involved in other technical project work, and that of other colleagues
The core hours are 0900 – 1700, Monday to Friday (40 hours / office based – not hybrid working).

As a Supplier Assurance and Raw Material Specification Technologist, your key focus will be to ensure that approved suppliers and raw materials meet all technical, legal and customer standards. We are looking for someone who brings a blend of technical expertise, strong interpersonal skills, and a keen eye for detail.

KEY PERSONAL SKILLS :

  • Excellent communication and organisation skills are vital, and you must be comfortable dealing with a wide range of people, at all levels, both internal and external.
  • IT competent in a range of software packages, such as Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and SharePoint.
  • Able to successfully manage multiple tasks, often with conflicting priorities, and deliver results to strict deadlines
  • Able to transfer data accurately and clearly into the supplier and raw material databases.
  • Ability to work proactively, independently, and collaboratively, dependent upon the needs of the project.
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to proof read, and to obtain colleague opinions, as required, whilst adopting a “Right First Time” attitude to all tasks.
  • Flexible approach to adapt to changing regulatory requirements and operational needs.
  • Hands-on, solution focused approach to managing supplier quality and resolving issues.

KEY EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED :

  • 1 – 2 years experience in the food industry.
  • Experience of working within a similar role within food manufacturing.
  • Good working knowledge of food and drink labelling regulations is required. Evidence of formal training in this area would be beneficial but not vital.
  • HACCP and Food Safety Level 3.
  • Familiarity with all requirements of TACCP / VACCP systems.

Responsibilities
  • Build strong relationships with suppliers, managing the risk assessment of both suppliers and raw materials.
  • Build and maintain good working relationships with customer technical contacts to provide confidence in our supply chain controls
  • Work with HR to assess any risks to supplier or customer ethical compliance.
  • Support cross-functional teams including technical, procurement and NPD, on the sourcing and supply of raw materials, both samples and bulk supply.
  • Support technical, NPD and commercial teams in approving raw materials required for product development.
  • Maintain and update approved supplier list, ensuring we have current due diligence documentation, along with accuracy of raw material product list and risk assessment.
  • Responsibility for managing vulnerability assessments, highlighting and addressing raw material queries, together with the use of Horizon Scanning industry software.
  • Support technical and site teams during audits and customer visits.
  • This list is indicative and not exhaustive – this is a vital role within the company and the industry, and is likely to evolve in line with industry expectations.
