Description

Role Overview: The Supplier Development Engineer will be responsible for improving the performance and capabilities of our suppliers. This includes identifying areas for improvement, implementing action plans, and collaborating closely with suppliers to ensure alignment with VDL’s standards and requirements. The position requires a proactive approach in supplier development to enhance the quality, delivery, and cost-effectiveness of supplies.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in supplier development, quality assurance, or manufacturing engineering.

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:

  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and supply chain management principles.
  • Experience in quality control methods, including Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to perform root cause analysis.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with suppliers and internal teams.
  • Ability to travel to supplier sites as needed.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct supplier assessments to identify opportunities for improvement in quality, delivery, and cost.
  • Develop and implement supplier development plans, including training and support initiatives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including quality assurance, engineering, and procurement, to address supplier-related issues.
  • Monitor supplier performance through KPIs and provide feedback to suppliers for continuous improvement.
  • Work with suppliers to resolve quality issues, conducting root cause analysis and leading corrective actions.
  • Facilitate supplier performance audits and maintain all related documentation.
  • Support the sourcing team in capability assessments and the selection of new suppliers.
  • Drive initiatives aimed at improving supply chain efficiency and reducing costs.
