Supplier Governance Manager

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

• Doctorate degree OR
• Master’s degree & 2 years of clinical development, discovery research or translational science experience OR
• Bachelor’s degree & 4 years of clinical development, discovery research or translational science experience OR
• Associate’s degree & 8 years of clinical development, discovery research or translational science experience OR
• High school diploma / GED & 10 years of clinical development, discovery research or translational science experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• BA/BS/BSc in the sciences or RN
• Proven work experience in life sciences or medically related field, including biopharmaceutical clinical research experience (clinical research experience obtained working on clinical trials at a biotech, pharmaceutical or CRO company), discovery research or translational science
• Experience in clinical supplier contracting, work orders and budgets
• Experience with global ERP systems, PO management, invoice management
• Experience as team leader or line manager
• Experience working at or with, clinical research suppliers (CROs, central labs, imaging suppliers etc.
• Experience working in a global, matrix organization
• Knowledge of Good Clinical Practices (GCP), FDA regulations and guidelines and international regulatory requirements/guidelines
• Strong problem solving skills and critical thinking to effectively identify solutions
• Support business functions with selection and development of new suppliers
• Ensure adherence to standard methodologies by Amgen functional areas
• Collaborate closely with functional areas across the R&D organization to ensure internal business needs are being met
• Contribute to, and as appropriate, lead departmental and cross-functional initiatives and special projects as identified by management or business need

  The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.

Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role you will maximize the value obtained from partnerships with external providers across the R&D organization and ensure appropriate financial oversight of Clinical Trial suppliers.

Responsibilities

• Lead team responsible for managing study level Purchase Orders (POs) work orders and budgets with clinical service providers e.g. CROs, Labs etc
• Ensure quality of Purchase Orders (POs) including SoW negotiations, funding requests through established financial processes, PO execution, ongoing budget review, and PO closure
• Work with suppliers and internal customers (typically up to Director level) to identify, manage, escalate and resolve issues related to study level PO approvals, invoice issues etc.
• Develop and maintain functional processes and ensure team adherence to them.
• Communicate Amgen’s financial, PO and invoice management standards across suppliers and Amgen teams. Support suppliers to meet Amgen’s requirements as needed.
• Serve as R&D SME (subject matter expert) for work orders, POs, invoicing and associated systems e.g. ERP system, TMF system.
• Liaise cross functionally e.g. with finance, procurement and business counterparts to support clinical trial budgeting and accounting in relation to clinical trial suppliers.
• Provide ongoing supplier oversight and encourage sharing of standard methodologies and development of process improvements
