The Supplier Project Engineer is a key member of the Supplier Engineering group, which is part of Insulets Supply Chain organization. Insulet manages a global supply chain and sources precision components and commodities from around the world for use in its devices. The Supplier Project Engineer works closely with peers and leaders in Quality, Sourcing and Manufacturing to plan and implement new capital tooling and equipment at suppliers, carry out new product introductions, execute improvement projects, resolve business-critical technical issues, and investigate and lead corrective actions in response to quality issues across the supply base. An understanding of product performance with regards to measurement and tolerance as well as materials and material compatibilities. The ideal candidate has experience working with suppliers of custom precision components for use in medical devices and should have either strong mechanical/automation experience or strong process/data analysis experience. Six Sigma or Lean experience is a plus.
Have a strong quality background. The ability to prioritize day-to-day problems and occurrences. Experience with part / process risk mitigation. Candidates should enjoy the factory setting and be comfortable interfacing with and influencing supplier personnel ranging from shop floor operators to leadership.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead, plan, manage and implement supplier capital qualifications from kick-off to implementation into production
  • Generate and review supplier validation/qualification protocols and coordinate their execution and final reporting.
  • Lead with teamwork and drive for results; able to work in a borderless organization and across multiple functions including, programs, engineering, purchasing and suppliers
  • Project lead for all deliverables needed to successfully implement bespoke capital equipment and tooling at preferred suppliers
  • Implement progressive quality plans that protect our manufacturing partners with zero defective components
  • Create and manage component risk assessment and mitigation plans
  • Fluent use of tooling design and DFM programs to design and standardize robust and optimum toolsProvide input to develop and execute DOE’s, testing, and analysisUnderstand contributing factors which influence component critical requirements
  • All other duties as assigned

Education and Experience:

  • BS Engineering Degree (Plastics, Mechanical, Manufacturing/Industrial) or related field
  • Min 3 years in industry (relevant co-op experience will be considered)

Familiarity with one of SAS, JMP, or Minitab is strongly desired.
Working knowledge of MS Office, including Office Project software.
Six Sigma Process Improvement Experience/Certification desirable.
Regulated industry experience preferred.
Familiarity with cGMP practices desired.
An outstanding team player who seeks and values diverse input to hone ideas, but who has the experience to develop strong starting proposals.
Highly motivated, self-starter.
Appreciates the value of timelines and enjoys working in the focused environment that they create.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $68,625.00 - $102,937.50. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position in the primary work location in the US. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
