POSITION SUMMARY

The Supplier Quality Engineer will be responsible for auditing and evaluating supplier quality systems to ensure alignment with aerospace standards, customer requirements, and internal quality benchmarks. Will work collaboratively with suppliers to promote continuous improvement and ensure consistent delivery of high-quality parts, materials, and assemblies.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • The Supplier Quality Engineer must have a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Must have a minimum 3–5 years of experience in supplier quality, ideally within aerospace or defense manufacturing.
  • In-depth knowledge of AS9100, NADCAP, FAI/PPAP, and aerospace quality systems.
  • The Supplier Quality Engineer must have hands-on experience conducting quality system and process audits; certification (e.g., AS9100 Lead Auditor)
  • Must have experience with APQP, DFMEA/PFMEA, and developing control plans.
  • Proficiency in SAP, ERP systems, Microsoft Office, and statistical analysis tools such as Minitab.
  • Must be lean certified (green or black)
  • The Supplier Quality Engineer must be familiar with special processes such as welding, plating, heat treating, or non-destructive testing (NDT).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities using tools like 8D, DMAIC, Fishbone, or 5 Whys.
  • Effective communicator with strong interpersonal skills; able to collaborate across internal and external teams.
  • Willing and able to travel up to 30–50%, domestically and internationally.
Responsibilities
  • The Supplier Quality Engineer will perform supplier audits to evaluate quality systems, manufacturing processes, and adherence to industry standards such as AS9100 and NADCAP.
  • Qualify and onboard new suppliers, including initial audits and continuous monitoring.
  • Develop and manage risk-based audit schedules based on supplier performance and criticality.
  • The Supplier Quality Engineer will lead investigations into supplier non-conformances; identify root causes and implement effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Track and report key supplier quality metrics including PPAP, FAI, on-time delivery, and quality performance.
  • Partner with engineering, procurement, and program management teams to ensure supplier readiness for New Product Introduction (NPI).
  • The Supplier Quality Engineer will validate that supplier processes for critical components and special processes are robust, repeatable, and under control.
  • Support the creation and maintenance of supplier quality agreements and related compliance documentation.
  • Stay informed of evolving aerospace regulations, customer-specific requirements, and quality best practices.
