We are seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer to ensure that materials, components, and services provided by our suppliers meet our high standards for quality, compliance, and performance. This role will work closely with procurement, engineering, and manufacturing teams to develop supplier quality processes, resolve issues, and drive continuous improvement in the supply chain. If you have strong experience in supplier quality, have experience in IPC-620 harness builds, PCB/PCBA manufacturing as well as mechanical (machining, plating, etc.), are detail-oriented with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions, we’d like to meet you.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in supplier quality, quality engineering, or related role in a manufacturing environment (aerospace/defense industry preferred).
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, and relevant industry standards.
  • Understanding of quality control principles such as Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA), Gauge R&R, PPAP, APQP, FMEA, & SPC.
  • Solid understanding of quality control standards, inspection techniques, and testing methodologies.
  • Experience with supplier audits (quality system, process and product audits), corrective action processes (8D), and root cause analysis tools (5Why’s/Ishikawa)
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001:2015 and AS9100 standards.
  • Knowledge of supplier qualification processes and first article inspections (FAI).
  • Ability to identify, analyze, and resolve quality issues effectively.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings (GD&T) and specifications.
  • Knowledge in J-STD-001 for soldered electronics, IPC-A-600 & IPC-A-620.
  • Proficiency in MS Office; experience with ERP systems (SAP) is a plus.
  • Certification in quality (e.g., ASQ Certified Quality Engineer, ISO 9001 Lead Auditor) is a strong advantage.

Responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and maintain supplier quality requirements, standards, Approved Supplier Listing (ASL) database and acceptance criteria.
  • Conduct supplier audits and assessments in accordance with ISO 9001:2015 and customer/regulatory requirements.
  • Effective collaboration with suppliers to implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Evaluate first article inspections (AS9102 FAIs) and incoming inspection reports to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Data Analysis and Risk Management experience.
  • Review supplier-provided documentation, certificates of conformance, and test reports.
  • Monitor supplier performance metrics (e.g., on-time delivery, defect rates, responsiveness) and work with suppliers to address performance issues.
  • Assist in supplier selection and qualification for new products and materials.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for interacting with suppliers and internal teams.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers.
  • Support engineering changes in the supply chain and ensure supplier processes are updated accordingly.
  • Maintain accurate quality records for supplier activities and performance.
  • Manages supplier requests for waivers, deviations and discrepancy reporting process
  • Promote continuous improvement initiatives with suppliers to enhance quality and reduce costs.
  • Ensure supplier compliance with applicable legal, regulatory, and contractual requirements, including defense-related quality standards.
  • Perform task associated with counterfeit mitigation program including approving brokers and review of broker part test reports.
