Job Description
Cornerstone Building Brands is seeking a Supplier Quality Manager to drive quality improvement with suppliers, lead coaching initiatives, and ensure compliance with company standards. This role requires a proactive approach to mentoring suppliers, implementing best practices, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. This position requires up to 75% of domestic travel. We are seeking 3 Supplier Quality Managers to support: Glass & Hardware, Steel, and Vinyl/Extrusion.

PRODUCT CATEGORY EXPERIENCE

  • Strong understanding of window hardware components, including hinges, locks, handles, and sealing systems.
  • Experience in glass manufacturing, including tempering, coating, insulating, and structural glazing applications.
  • Familiarity with quality standards for glass thickness, coatings, durability, and optical clarity.
  • Expertise in thermal performance and energy efficiency in window glass and hardware integration.
  • Ability to assess and improve supplier quality in window components, ensuring material consistency and defect reduction.
  • Knowledge of AAMA and NFRC regulations and compliance with residential glass applications.
  • The product category is subject to change, requiring adaptability in managing supplier quality across various materials and manufacturing processes.
  • Extensive experience in vinyl extrusion processes, including profile design, durability, and dimensional stability.
  • Expertise in lamination techniques, ensuring adhesion quality, resistance to environmental factors, and material compatibility.
  • Knowledge of painted product and coextruded applications, including coatings for durability, aesthetics, and resistance to wear and fading.
  • Understanding of supplier quality standards for vinyl, laminated, and painted materials, ensuring compliance with AAMA regulations.
  • Ability to assess and improve supplier performance in material consistency, defect reduction, and production efficiencies.
  • Familiarity with testing protocols for adhesion strength, color consistency, UV resistance, and environmental durability.
  • Experience in steel manufacturing processes, including hot-rolled, cold-rolled, and galvanized steel.
  • Familiarity with steel coil production, handling, and quality control measures to ensure material integrity.
  • Knowledge of coated steel applications, including pre-painted and corrosion-resistant finishes.
  • Strong understanding of steel supplier quality standards, metallurgical properties, and compliance requirements.
  • Ability to assess and improve steel supplier performance, ensuring adherence to industry regulations and specifications.
  • Experience working with suppliers to enhance steel material consistency, durability, and defect reduction.
  • Product category is subject to change, requiring adaptability in managing supplier quality across various materials and manufacturing processes.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Industrial Discipline, or a related field.
  • Six Sigma Black Belt certification preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in supplier quality or manufacturing quality roles.
  • Strong expertise in training, coaching, and mentoring suppliers.
  • Ability to analyze supplier data and lead performance improvement strategies.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to influence and educate suppliers.
  • Up to 75% of domestic travel is required.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, quality systems, and supplier management tools.

Responsibilities
  • Lead supplier coaching programs to enhance quality processes, defect prevention, and performance optimization.
  • Develop and implement training for suppliers on quality control methodologies, 8D problem-solving, and root cause analysis.
  • Provide hands-on coaching to suppliers on material and component specifications, ensuring adherence to requirements.
  • Act as a mentor and consultant, guiding suppliers through process improvements and compliance initiatives.
  • Work with suppliers to establish corrective and preventive action plans, ensuring sustainable quality improvements.
  • Conduct supplier audits and follow-up coaching to ensure long-term success in meeting company standards.
  • Implement supplier development roadmaps, tracking progress toward zero defects and quality excellence.
  • Collaborate with Strategic Sourcing to identify, approve, and onboard new suppliers with strong quality capabilities.
  • Support supplier innovation and improvement projects that drive cost efficiency and process optimization.
  • Assist with new product launches and material/component qualifications, ensuring supplier readiness.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, holding suppliers accountable for quality
