Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is currently seeking a Supplier Quality Receiving Inspector to join the Supplier Quality Receiving Team located in North Charleston, SC.
The Supplier Quality Receiving Inspection Team at BSC plays a crucial role in ensuring that only high-quality, compliant materials enter the production process. This team meticulously inspects incoming materials, identifies and addresses defects, and maintains detailed quality records, all while driving continuous improvement initiatives. By fostering strong relationships with suppliers and minimizing disruptions, they contribute to efficient operations and superior finished products. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):

  • High School Diploma or GED is typically the minimum requirement.
  • Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments: Calipers, micrometers, height gauges, thread gauges, etc. are routinely used to verify dimensions and tolerances.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and engineering specifications: Essential for comparing received items against design requirements.
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook): Essential for documentation, report generation, and communication.
  • Strong attention to detail: A critical requirement for meticulous examination of materials and documentation.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):

  • Relevant experience, 2-4 years, in quality inspection, especially in manufacturing or related environments like aerospace, is highly valued.
  • Experience with First Article Inspections (FAI): Ensuring initial production runs meet specifications.
  • Familiarity with quality standards and specifications: Understanding industry guidelines (like AS9100 in aerospace) and internal company standards.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma principles: Can be beneficial for process improvement.
  • Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) or Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) (e.g., SAP, Oracle): Used for managing inventory, tracking orders, and documenting inspection results.
  • Experience using quality management software (e.g., TIPQA): For managing inspection processes and documentation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills: To identify root causes of defects, analyze inspection data, and recommend corrective actions.
Responsibilities
  • Verifies routine product conformance to design requirements.
  • Provides objective evidence of results. Performs auditing, surveillance and monitoring.
  • Identifies and documents discrepancies.
  • Segregates and controls non-conforming items.
  • Conducts product review with customer during product or process verification.
  • Identifies repetitive or significant non-conformances and initiates requests for corrective action.
