This is a full-time position based in onsite, with regular travel to other regional project locations throughout Australia. The successful candidate will take ownership of Solmech’s project supply and distribution operations, ensuring materials, plant and equipment are procured, stored, tracked and delivered safely, efficiently and in line with project requirements.

ABOUT SOLMECH

Solmech is an Australian renewable energy construction company specialising in the delivery of utility-scale solar and energy projects across Australia and New Zealand.

Our teams work across multiple regional project locations, requiring strong coordination between suppliers, transport providers, project management teams and site-based personnel.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

In this role, you will:

  • Develop, implement and monitor supply, storage and distribution strategies across multiple renewable energy projects.
  • Plan and coordinate the movement of construction materials, plant, equipment and project supplies between suppliers, storage facilities and project sites.
  • Prepare and implement supply plans to maintain appropriate stock levels while controlling costs and minimising project delays.
  • Manage inventory, storage and materials-tracking systems, ensuring stock movements and transactions are accurately recorded.
  • Oversee the mobilisation and allocation of plant and equipment, including piling rigs, excavators, telehandlers, skid steers, forklifts, light vehicles and associated construction equipment.
  • Coordinate transport providers, deliveries and site access requirements to ensure materials and equipment arrive safely and within required project timeframes.
  • Negotiate and manage arrangements with suppliers and transport providers to meet quality, cost and delivery requirements.
  • Monitor supplier and logistics performance and resolve delivery, stock, transport and equipment-allocation issues.
  • Liaise with project managers, construction managers, supervisors, procurement personnel and suppliers regarding upcoming project requirements.
  • Direct and coordinate the activities of logistics personnel, operators and other workers involved in receiving, storing and distributing project materials.
  • Monitor team performance and ensure logistics activities comply with company procedures, project requirements and applicable health and safety obligations.
  • Prepare logistics plans, inventory reports, delivery schedules and project supply updates for management.

ABOUT YOU

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A relevant bachelor-level qualification in logistics, supply chain management, business, operations or a related discipline; or at least five years of substantial relevant industry experience.
  • Demonstrated experience managing supply, storage, inventory and distribution operations.
  • Experience coordinating materials, plant and equipment within the construction, infrastructure, renewable energy or a similarly project-based industry.
  • Strong experience managing suppliers, transport providers and site delivery schedules.
  • Previous experience leading or directing logistics personnel and monitoring team performance.
  • Strong planning, problem-solving and organisational skills.
  • The ability to manage competing priorities across multiple regional projects.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Sound computer skills and experience using inventory, asset-tracking or logistics-management systems.
  • A current driver’s licence valid in Australia, or the ability to obtain one

Construction industry experience, a White Card and relevant plant or high-risk work licences will be highly regarded.

WHAT WE OFFER

  • Full-time employment with a growing renewable energy contractor.
  • Salary of $91,500 - $110,000 plus superannuation.
  • The opportunity to manage logistics across major renewable energy construction projects.
  • A role offering genuine responsibility for project supply, inventory, plant and distribution operations.
  • Opportunities to travel and work with project teams across Australia.

Applicants must be able to meet the inherent requirements of the position and travel to regional project locations as required.
