Description

We are looking for a Supply Chain Director to join Vaisala’s headquarters in Vantaa, Finland. In this role, you will be part of our Operations unit, where we create value for our customers through a high-mix, low-volume supply chain network and a strong commitment to operational excellence.
Vaisala is a global leader in measurement instruments and intelligence helping industries, nations, people, and the planet to thrive. From predicting hurricanes to optimizing renewable energy production, our technology is used where it matters the most – from data centers, windfarms and laboratories to airports, the Arctic and even the surface of Mars. Vaisala was recognised by Time Magazine in 2025 as among the world’s best companies for Sustainable Growth. Our team of over 2,300 experts and 59 nationalities around the world is committed to taking every measure for the planet. Driven by our shared purpose, curiosity, and pioneering spirit, we stay ahead and make a difference. At Vaisala, you don’t have to fit in to belong.

Responsibilities

The Operations organization includes four manufacturing sites in Vantaa, Boulder, Saclay, and Shanghai, with a total of 600 employees covering key functions such as Factories, Sourcing, Supply Chain Management, Production Technology, and Quality & Operational Excellence.
In this role, you will report to Executive Vice President of Operations Vesa Pylvänäinen, and be an integral member of the Operations Leadership Team, collaborating closely with teams across Vaisala both in Finland and internationally.

Supply Chain Director will lead and develop a diverse team of experts, including:

  • Purchasing and planning
  • Warehouse and shipping
  • Supply chain and logistics development
  • Senior Managers for Trade Compliance and Development

You will have global responsibility for supply chain management processes, tools, and best practices across all Vaisala manufacturing locations, with operational focus on intralogistics at our Vantaa factory. Key mid-term priorities include the adoption and continued development of SAP S/4 Hana (go-live January 2024), supply chain segmentation, and building supply chain management competences. A critical project for 2025 will be the successful ramp-up of a new logistics center in Vantaa.
