The Manager, Cost & Promotions is responsible for building, executing, and optimizing national promotional programs that support wholesale banners and independent customers across Canada. This role sits at the intersection of Merchandising, Marketing, Sales, IT, and vendor partners, ensuring promotions are strategically aligned, financially sound, and flawlessly executed. As the organization continues shifting from traditional flyer‑led models toward more digital and e‑commerce‑focused experiences, this role plays a key part in modernizing promotional strategy and integrating digital and UX elements into the promotional lifecycle. Promotional Strategy & Planning Develop and execute national promotional calendars aligned with category and seasonal priorities. Partner with Category Managers to identify opportunities that drive incremental sales and margin. Lead planning for key promotional periods and ensure alignment with merchandising and pricing strategies. Performance & Analytics Analyze promotional performance (sales lift, margin, ROI, funding efficiency). Provide post‑event insights, track key KPIs, and recommend actions for underperforming promotions. Vendor & Funding Management Collaborate with suppliers to secure funding and maximize trade investment. Negotiate and optimize vendor participation while ensuring spend aligns with financial targets. Cross‑Functional Collaboration Work with Replenishment to support forecast accuracy and in‑stock execution. Partner with Marketing on flyer execution, digital support, and POS materials. Align programs with Sales and Wholesale teams for independent customer relevance. Operational Execution Provide leadership to a team of Analysts, fostering strong organizational practices, clear prioritization, and consistent, high‑quality execution. Oversee promotional setup and system accuracy (pricing, funding, timelines). Ensure compliance with internal processes, manage lead times, and communicate with stakeholders. Support rollout of new promotional tools and processes. What You Bring Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Commerce, or related field 5+ years of experience in Merchandising, Category Management, Trade Marketing, or Wholesale Strong financial and analytical skills Experience working with vendor funding and promotional planning Advanced proficiency in Excel and data analysis tools Experience in grocery, wholesale, or food distribution environment preferred While the preferred location for this position is Calgary, we remain open to considering exceptional candidates based in other Canadian provinces.
