POSITION OVERVIEW:

Under the direction of the Director of Operations, directs all aspects of procurement, inventory control and logistics. This includes maintenance of current systems as well as improvement initiatives. This position requires the ability to work independently, exercising judgement and initiative, and the ability to work co-operatively with other staff members including those in manufacturing, quality, regulatory, finance, marketing, sales and innovation. The Supply Chain Manager takes a ‘hands on’ team-oriented approach to ensure that every step of the process is functioning effectively to avoid costly delays and lost sales opportunities.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain effective relationships to ensure continued acceptable and timely delivery of products, materials and services. Enhance and maintain procurement systems to assure that products, materials and services delivered to Nature’s Way of Canada’s Dartmouth site meet all internal and external requirements with superior quality and reliability levels materials.
  • Develop and maintain efficient and cost-effective logistics procedures, policies and standards.
  • Develop effective relationships with brokers to facilitate the rapid transportation and customs clearances for international shipments. Remain current with regulations that impact import / export activities and ensure compliance with laws and regulations.
  • Submit Purchase Orders for omega 3 oils and contract manufactured products. Track delivery and follow up with suppliers accordingly to meet required timelines. Issue monthly forecasts. Communicate any supply issues to Planning and Sales.
  • Lead Supply Chain Projects to improve supply requirements, contingency planning and supplier changes to support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Organize work schedules and provide professional leadership to staff. This includes assigning and delegating responsibilities, giving work directives, resolving problems, ensuring completion of operational functions at specified deadlines and conducting staff meetings to discuss operational problems and/or explain procedural changes.
  • Coordinate and direct functions of subordinate employee relations including recruitment and selection, classification, annual performance evaluations and salary assessments, training (including accurate and current records), transfers, vacation schedules, job descriptions, promotions and disciplinary measures.
  • Establish and maintain systems including Standard Operating Procedures, Incident Reports, Deviation Reports, Corrective Actions, Risk Assessments and KPIs.
  • Represent the company from a supply chain view (or ensure adequate representation) in external audits. These audits include but are not limited to those by Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and Natural Health Products Division (NHPD). * May include other duties as assigned from time to time.
