POSITION OVERVIEW

The Support Liaison is an integral part of the Care Team to families and individuals accessing A Safe Place shelter supports. This role assists clients in shelter to assess, determine and navigate their needs, access community supports and move forward in their lives. The Support Liaison directly connects with clients after intake and works collaboratively as a part of the Care Team, advocates in the community and works directly with clients.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

-Post-Secondary Diploma or Degree in Social Work, or equivalent. A combination of comparable and relevant Human Services education, practicums, and work experience may be considered.
-Mandatory registration with corresponding applicable professional governing body (i.e.: ACSW, PCAP, etc.).
-Police Intervention Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check, and Child Intervention Check.
-Current First Aid/CPR Certification.
-ASIST Suicide Intervention Training (or willingness to complete)
-Trainings in (or willingness to complete): Trauma-Informed Practice , De-escalation, Brain Story Certification, Danger Assessment, Cultural Competency, FOIP, Others as identified or deemed necessary
-Must have access to reliable vehicle and must possess adequate insurance to transport clients
-Proficiency in reading, writing and speaking in English. Additional languages considered an asset.
-Strong computer aptitudes – Microsoft Office. Experience with Outcome Tracker considered an asset.
-Demonstrated ability to think critically, problem solve and de-escalate situations in a fast-paced environment that requires the prioritization of tasks.

Responsibilities

-Collaborates with Crisis Intervention Workers to manage a primary caseload of designated shelter residents with a secondary caseload to include remaining shelter residents.
-Comprehensively assess needs.
-Provide information, support and referrals to community agencies and resources
-Assist clients in navigating financial support resources and housing opportunities.
-Collaborate with community agencies around client needs and attend case conferences as required.
-Complete goal plans and progress plans in collaboration with family care team. Participate in care team goal review meetings.
-Work collaboratively with Outreach Workers to support clients upon shelter departure.
-Work collaboratively with Victims Advocate to meet family’s legal needs.
-Accompany clients to appointments, meetings, and other outings to advocate and support their needs.
-Assists with Helpline calls and CIW duties as required.
-Mentor clients about the dynamics and impacts of domestic violence and trauma from a strengths-based lens.
-Provide responsive emotional support to clients.
-Maintain detailed documentation and reporting on client services as per ethical documentation standards.
-Complete administrative tasks as necessary for your position (i.e. timesheets, expense and mileage reports etc.).
-Attend staff and team meetings as appropriate.
-Work collaboratively with all other ASP Employees to provide consistent services and supports to clients in shelter.
-Follow established Shelter Policies and Procedures and relevant legislation.
-Other job-related tasks as required.
