About the role The Support Systems Engineer is a key member of the Support System Team, operating within the broader engineering function. This role combines Systems Engineering and Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) Engineering and supports delivery of end-to-end Support System outcomes across defence platforms. Working closely with the Support System Lead, you will contribute across the full support system scope including requirements development, ILS, support facilities, and training systems. You will act as a technical integrator, supporting communication across engineering, stakeholders, and the customer, while stepping in across the Support System scope as priorities demand. As part of your specific responsibilities, you will: Support System Engineering Contribute to all elements of the Support System scope, including: Requirements development through translation of stakeholder and customer needs Definition and support of support facilities, including design intent, usage, and constraints Development of Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) activities and documentation Development of the training strategy Support mandated system reviews and contribute to review preparation and execution. Systems Engineering & ILS Integration Apply systems engineering principles across the support system lifecycle Review Support System documentation and engineering artefacts Provide advice and guidance to internal and external stakeholders on Support System scope Participate in working groups and technical reviews at various levels. Stakeholder & Customer Engagement Assist the Support System Lead with task coordination and stakeholder communication Attend and actively contribute to customer meetings and solution development Support the preparation of future Support System tasking statements Contribute to closure of working group actions with key stakeholders. About you Your skills and experience will include: Essential Experience across the systems engineering lifecycle, with a strong support system and/or ILS focus Strong written and verbal communication skills, including development of high-quality technical artefacts Proven experience working with diverse internal and external stakeholders to achieve shared outcomes Ability to work autonomously, manage priorities, and deliver outputs to time, cost, and quality. Desirable Knowledge or experience in one or more C4ISREW or Combat System Warfare domains (AAW, ASW, ASuW) Experience conducting Logistic Support Analysis (LSA) within the Australian Defence environment Experience in Defence or a comparable technical industry Project management experience. Qualification: Tertiary qualification in Engineering or a relevant discipline, or equivalent Defence industry experience.
