JOB DESCRIPTION

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Support Time and Recovery (STaR) Worker to join our mental health residential rehabilitation and reablement service. The successful candidate will support a 14-bed, short stay facility designed for individuals transitioning from hospital discharge to rehabilitation and re-ablement. This role involves working closely with residents, healthcare professionals, and other support staff to create a safe and supportive living environment.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Relevant qualification in mental health, social care, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of mental health conditions and best practices in mental health care.
  • Strong understanding of recovery principles and person-led care.
  • A good understanding of safeguarding
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
  • Empathy, patience, and a non-judgmental approach to supporting individuals with mental health needs.
  • At least 2 years-experience working in a mental health or social care setting, preferably within a residential service.

SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to handle challenging situations.
  • Empathy and the ability to build trusting relationships with residents.
  • Competence in using basic computer applications for documentation and communication.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical guidelines.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a mental health support or related role.
  • Experience in an accommodation-based service setting, particularly in hospital discharge, rehabilitation and re-ablement, is preferred.

Responsibilities
  • Provide overnight support to residents in a 14-bed residential setting.
  • Assist residents with activities, including personal care and household tasks.
  • Develop and implement individualised strengths-based support plans tailored to each resident’s needs and goals.
  • Monitor and record residents’ progress, reporting any concerns to the appropriate healthcare professionals.
  • Support residents in managing their mental health, including medication management and encouraging good sleep hygiene
  • Promote a safe and inclusive environment, respecting the rights and dignity of all residents.
  • Collaborate with the wider team to ensure holistic care and support for residents.
  • Respond to crises and emergencies in a calm and effective manner.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation in compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Work on a 2-week rolling rota shift pattern, ensuring continuous support and care for residents.
  • Some cleaning duties as required
