About the Role:

  • Work with people who have complex behavioural issues, mental health conditions and/or trauma based backgrounds, as well as Intellectual Disability such as Level 3 Autism Spectrum Disorder.
  • Provide support across SIL houses, community and/or a hospital environments.
  • Manage behaviour escalations and potential aggressive incidents.
  • Provide person-centred support and implement Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) strategies and de-escalation techniques.
  • In some cases, assist clients to adhere and follow Mental Health Forensic Orders.
  • Located in Bald Hills and surrounding Moreton Bay/Brisbane suburbs.
  • Casual, morning/afternoon/sleepover shifts available Monday-Sunday.

The successful applicant will demonstrate:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with the client, family members and other members of the support team.
  • Strong observational skills and the ability to recognise early signs of distress, anxiety, or behavioral escalation, responding promptly using proactive and person-centered strategies.
  • The ability to remain calm, patient, and emotionally regulated in high-pressure situations while maintaining a reassuring presence.
  • Confidence in implementing Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) plans and following individualised support strategies consistently.
  • A high level of emotional intelligence, sound judgment, and the ability to adapt communication and support approaches to meet the client's individual needs.
  • A commitment to maintaining detailed, accurate documentation and communicating any changes in presentation, concerns, or incidents to the wider support team.
  • Reliability, consistency, and the ability to build trusting, professional relationships through predictable and respectful interactions.
  • A genuine commitment to promoting the client's dignity, safety, choice, and quality of life while supporting them to achieve their individual goals.
  • A strong team player.

  • NDIS Worker Screening Check and QLD Working With Childrens Check.
  • First Aid and CPR certificates.
  • Valid driver’s licence, reliable vehicle and comprehensive car insurance.
