JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Support Worker to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in providing high-quality care and support to individuals in various settings, including care homes, assisted living facilities, and home care environments. The Support Worker will assist clients with daily activities, promote their independence, and ensure their overall wellbeing.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Previous experience in senior care, nursing homes, or assisted living environments is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of Alzheimer’s care, dementia care, hospice care, and patient care practices is essential.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and case management principles is beneficial.
  • First aid certification is preferred; willingness to obtain certification if not currently held.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with clients from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to drive may be required for certain positions; a valid driving licence is advantageous.

Responsibilities
  • Provide personal care and support to clients, including assistance with bathing, dressing, and grooming.
  • Administer medication as prescribed and maintain accurate records of medication administration.
  • Assist with meal preparation and ensure clients receive nutritious meals according to their dietary needs.
  • Develop and implement care plans tailored to individual client requirements, monitoring progress and adjusting as necessary.
  • Support clients with mobility needs, including heavy lifting when required, ensuring safety at all times.
  • Engage clients in meaningful activities to promote mental and emotional wellbeing, including behaviour management techniques.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment for clients, adhering to health and safety regulations.
  • Document client progress and communicate effectively with healthcare professionals regarding any changes in condition or behaviour.
  • Provide companionship and emotional support to clients, fostering a positive relationship based on trust and respect.
