Community Mentor/Support Worker Required in Tullamore.
GALRO provide professional clinical supports and services to vulnerable children and adults.
Community Support is provided by a mentor who is responsible for implementing a care plan which includes supervision, guidance and support with daily living and access to social and economic activity.
The mentor also works with the service user to identify and access economic life, leisure, social life, vocational and educational programmes, whilst also providing practical support.
Due to the continued expansion of our community services, we are now seeking to recruit a Community Mentor/Support Worker to join our team in Tullamore town.

Support Worker Requirements:

  • The candidate will hold a QQI Level 5 in Healthcare Support or related discipline.
  • Be of an empathetic nature.
  • Be enthusiastic and adaptable.
  • Have excellent communication skills.
  • Have experience working in a regulated Social Care setting.
  • Have the ability to understand and adhere to GALRO policies and procedures.
  • Hold a full Irish drivers licence.

Key Tasks Include:

  • Provide emotional support to service users and liaise professionally with significant people in the service users life such as parents and siblings.
  • Provide practical support, including personal care, housekeeping and medication management.
  • Support and encourage service user to reach their goals and aspirations.
  • Arrange and actively engage in age appropriate activity.
  • Supervise service users in accordance with their support requirements.
  • Be responsible for the upkeep of daily record keeping including daily reports, incident report, cleaning schedules, medication and administration records.

Social Care Worker Requirements:

  • The candidate will hold a Level 7 in Social Care Practice or related discipline.
  • Be of an empathetic nature.
  • Have excellent communication skills.
  • Have strong organisational and report writing skills.
  • Have a strong understanding of HIQA standards and principles.
  • Have the ability to understand and adhere to GALRO policies and procedures.
  • Hold a full Irish drivers licence.

Key Tasks Include:

  • Provide shift leadership when directed by line management and carry out lead staff duties.
  • Provide emotional support to service users and liaise professionally with significant people in the person’s life such as parents and siblings.
  • Provide practical support, including personal care, housekeeping and medication management.
  • Support and encourage service users to reach their goals and aspirations.
  • Arrange and actively engage in age appropriate activity.
  • Supervise service users in accordance with their support requirements.
  • Be responsible for the upkeep of daily record keeping including daily reports, incident report, cleaning schedules, medication and administration records.
