At our Residential Family Assessment Centres, you’ll be part of a supportive, passionate team making a real difference in the lives of vulnerable families. We provide a safe, structured environment where families can be assessed, guided, and supported to make positive life changes.

ABOUT YOU:

  • You will be expected to fully support the Manager in ensuring the centre operates as efficiently as possible whilst maintaining the highest quality of support and assessment.
  • You will need to demonstrate a good awareness of child development, family dynamics, safeguarding, and the impact on the child from parental mental health, substance misuse, domestic violence and learning disabilities.
  • You will support the team in delivering positive outcomes for parents and their children, starting every day with a fresh outlook and the passion to make a difference.

You are expected to have completed, be working towards or be willing to work towards one or more of the following:

  • Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care
  • Level 3 Diploma for the Children and Young People’s Workforce
  • Level 3 Diploma in Youth Work Practice
  • Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare

Or similar qualification for working with vulnerable people
We are looking for compassionate, reliable individuals who:
Have strong interpersonal and communication skills
Demonstrate an understanding of safeguarding and child protection
Are resilient, emotionally aware, and non-judgmental
Are willing to work flexibly, including evenings, weekends, and nights
Are comfortable working in a residential setting with vulnerable families
Have knowledge of mental health, substance misuse, domestic abuse, or learning disabilities (desirable but not essential)

Responsibilities

As a Residential Support Worker, you will be responsible for supporting families undergoing assessments, ensuring their safety and wellbeing, and contributing to a nurturing and professional environment.
You will:
Work directly with parents and children to support the family assessment process
Help implement and monitor assessment plans in line with Family Placement Plans
Safeguard the welfare of children at all times
Promote and model good parenting and routines
Record observations and contribute to professional assessments
Work collaboratively with social workers and external agencies
Assist in the planning and participation of daily routines, including meal times, play, learning, and rest
Support families with budgeting, independent living skills, and parenting guidance
Participate in shift handovers, team meetings, and ongoing training
Maintain confidentiality and work in accordance with safeguarding and data protection standards
Work flexibly across the service and with other agencies, partners, and stakeholders to meet the needs of the people we provide a service too.
Ensure that the safety and welfare of children and families staying at the centre is paramount
Follow a plan of training/support with parents as identified in the Family Placement Plan or through the assessing Social Worker
