Kamloops Aboriginal Friendship Society (KAFS) was established in 1972 and is a non-profit organization with a status free open-door policy. KAFS is dedicated to empowering the Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal communities of Kamloops and surrounding areas. KAFS provides culturally appropriate programs and inclusive services that meet the needs of urban Indigenous people to become healthier, physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.
THE OPPORTUNITY:
Under the supervision of the Mini Storage Manager at the Kamloops Aboriginal Friendship Society, the Mini Storage Support Worker is responsible for overseeing and supporting the operations of the Mini Storage Facility. This role ensures that clients have access to essential services, including storage, hygiene, and laundry. The Worker will work closely with the Mini Storage Manager to plan and effectively communicate services to the team, ensuring smooth operations.
The Worker will take a proactive role in crisis response, prioritize safety in all practices, and collaborate with external service providers to offer holistic support to clients. We are seeking a candidate with strong leadership skills, effective collaboration abilities, and the flexibility to adapt in a constantly changing environment while focusing on client needs and team dynamics.
REQUIREMENTS – WHAT YOU BRING TO KAFS:
- Post Secondary education related to Human Services, Community Support, Mental Health, Addictions or related field*
- 2 years of experience working with individuals with diverse backgrounds providing front-line support*
- Lived or living experience of mental health and/or substance use (including experiences of homelessness, poverty and other marginalization) is an asset.
- A valid driver’s license is an asset.
- Knowledge of local First Nations/Aboriginal cultures and or a demonstrated ability to work with First Nations/Aboriginal peoples.
- A combination of education and/or significant experience will be considered.
