JOB DESCRIPTION

Join our team to make a difference to British Columbians after brain injury and stroke!
We’re looking for awesome people to join our team as Life Redesign Coach - CONNECT Saanich, a brand-new location for CONNECT. As a guest on the traditional land of the W̱SÁNEĆ people, located on the Tsawout First Nation, you will have the important job of representing CONNECT and building strong community relationships as a good neighbour, partner and friend, so we walk this important journey together.
As a Life Redesign Coach, you will join a Coaching Resource team of professional support staff (OT, PT, SLP, etc.), including service resource, people resource, decision support, and admin coaches to deliver the CONNECT promise – Life Redesign after brain injury and stroke. In Saanich, we will hire Life Redesign Coaches in a few phases as we open, so we ask for flexibility with regards to precise start date.
As a Life Redesign Coach, you will work in partnership with the people who live at CONNECT. Using coaching methods, you will help the people we support set and achieve goals based on what is most meaningful to them. A typical day can include helping people with: Getting ready for the day, completing exercise programs, personal care, getting out into the community, participating in recreation, community events and leisure interests, meal preparation, and, most importantly, helping them reach their individual Life Redesign goals.

Becoming a Life Redesign Coach does not require you to have a care aide background. CONNECT will provide you with an orientation and training on the job. We hire based on fit, not qualifications.

  • Note: must be comfortable providing personal care when the need arises. Personal care includes helping someone get in/out of bed, washing, showering, bathing, cleaning teeth, shaving, going to the toilet, managing incontinence, eating, feeding and supporting nutrition through tube delivered products.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills – must enjoy working with, and helping others;
  • Strong organizational skills with an ability to be flexible when needed;
  • Ability to make connections with people in order to encourage and support them to achieve their goals;
  • Strong problem-solving skills, including conflict resolution;
  • Ability to be self-directed and work as part of a team;
  • Ability to remain calm in challenging situations;
  • Experience working with brain injury an asset; and
  • Experience providing care an asset.

What we offer:

  • Competitive wages;
  • Full benefits package, including group retirement plan;
  • Ongoing training and education opportunities; and
  • A rewarding career!
