OVERVIEW

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Support Worker to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential support to individuals in need, helping them to achieve their personal goals and enhance their quality of life. The ideal candidate will possess a strong sense of empathy, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to promoting independence and dignity for those you support.

Responsibilities
  • Participate in developing and maintaining a safe and positive living environment.
  • Supervising meals and supporting various aspects of day-to-day life.
  • Encourage service users to participate fully in the opportunities offered by Maya Supported Living.
  • To undertake such other duties, training and/or hours of work as may be reasonably required, and which are consistent with the general level of responsibility of this job.
  • Support people with regards to decision making and lifestyle choices enabling them to take control of their own lives, increasing independence.
  • Support the development of person-centred planning, ensuring each individual’s plan has meaningful and achievable goals.
  • Support service users to access community and leisure activity centre to enable them to live their life as independent as possible.
  • Support service users for their health appoinments.
  • Support service users for their personal needs to maintain their good health and hygiene.
  • Supporting and monitoring health needs, including administrating/assisting medication such as taking tablets, capsules, oral mixtures; buccal midazolam; applying a cream/ointment; and administering inhaled medicines.
  • Understand and update service users’ care plan to identity their needs and support so that high standard of care to each service users.
  • To respect and maintain their dignity at all times and develop positive relationships with members of team, service users and their family.
  • Work in partnership with the Day Center staff, college teachers and other professionals to maximise quality of life for individuals.
  • Work in line with the company’s Adult Protection and Prevention of Abuse Policy and Whistle Blowing Policy to ensure that people are kept safe at all times.
  • Ensure risk assessments are actioned as necessary, in line with policies and procedures.
  • To be flexible and responsive at all times to meet the changing needs of the service and the service users.
  • Participating fully in the working rota, including sleeping-in duties on a regular basis.
  • To ensure all records are promptly & accurately completed as required.
  • Previous experience in a support or care role is desirable but not essential; training will be provided.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with clients from diverse backgrounds.
  • A genuine passion for helping others and a commitment to providing high-quality care.
  • Ability to work flexibly, including evenings and weekends as required.
  • A valid driving licence is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Enhanced DBS check will be required prior to employment.
