ESSENTIAL SKILLS

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Mental Health/LD/Neurodiverse support experience
  • Ability to positively address and challenge inappropriate or negative behaviours and attitudes.
  • Able to respond to changes in an individual’s needs.
  • Good communication skills able to adapt style for differing audiences
  • To encourage and manage participation and involvement from the people we support.
  • Computer literate, with confidence in using all Microsoft office programmes

Desirable Skills/Experience

  • Previous experience as a support worker, ideally within an accommodation setting.
  • Experience in care planning and risk assessments.
  • Experience of using therapeutic de-escalation and/or crisis intervention techniques.
  • Some knowledge of safeguarding guidelines and processes

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

Venture People are seeking a new member of our specialist forensic team based I our Brighton accommodation service. We work with some amazing clients and it is our privilege to provide them with support and encouragement as they journey towards greater independence.
You will be supporting clients to achieve their recovery goals both practical and psychological, as well as being onsite to provide immediate support if needed. The service also operates a sleep-in component with staff room and facilities. This is paid in addition to your regular wage.

Key Duties

  • To facilitate the delivery of a service which follows a person-centred ethos and promotes independence.
  • This may include practical tasks such as cooking or going to appointments with clients.
  • Providing support for clients to engage in activities in their local community, accompanying them if needed as part of their package of support.
  • To complete dynamic risk assessments and support plans.
  • Work with the accommodation team to ensure cooperation and continuity of support.
  • Participate in the sleep-in rota to ensure 24-hour support is available even when not needed.
  • Ensure adherence to company and national policies and procedures.
  • To work flexibly as required by the service; this may require some working outside of your normal hours to provide consistent support
