Position: Support Worker
Location: Eastbourne (East Sussex)
Shifts: Days / Nights and weekends must be flexible to all shifts!
Pay Rates: £13 to £18 per hour!

KEY SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage children and families in crisis.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and child protection legislation.
  • Ability to remain calm and composed in stressful situations, with a strong understanding of crisis intervention techniques.
  • Good understanding of the impact of trauma and attachment issues on children.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team and engage with other professionals.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Minimum of 1 year working in with children and young people.
  • PMVA trained or willing to complete a 2-day course.
Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE:

You will play a key role in supporting children and families who are currently in crisis, specifically focusing on Looked After Children (LAC). This role involves providing emotional and practical support to children in care and their families, ensuring their needs are met, and helping to stabilise situations during periods of high stress or instability.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • To provide Therapeutic and Emotional Support
  • Family Support and Engagement
  • Safeguarding and Risk Management
  • Respond to urgent needs by offering immediate emotional support, and assistance.
  • Work alongside social workers, foster carers, to ensure children’s immediate safety and well-being.
  • Offer respite care and support for foster carers to manage children in crisis.
