Description

This Ofsted-Registered Children’s Home Provider is looking for an experienced, caring and above all passionate Senior Support Worker to join a dedicated team of professionals in delivering high quality care to extremely vulnerable children in a Residential Care Setting.
Based in Virginia Water, this home is a 5- bed LD home.
This is an opportunity to not only make a real difference in children’s lives but to broaden your knowledge and skillset further through the Organisation’s Therapeutic Care Programme.

SKILL AND REQUIREMENTS

  • At least a year of experience working with children in the UK.
  • Ongoing Satisfactory DBS.
  • Full Driving License.
  • Ability to work as part of a multi-agency childcare team and demonstrate leadership skills
  • Ability to engage with children and young people with emotional, behavioural and psychological difficulties as a result of childhood experiences, poor mental health, domestic abuse, substance misuse, sexual abuse and learning disability.
  • Ability to work in partnership with professionals from other services and to engage with service users’ families
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, including official external reports; e.g. court reports, submissions to Ofsted etc.
  • Understanding of current Children’s Homes Regulations, Quality Standards 2015, Ofsted inspection framework and statutory Looked After Child guidance including the Care Planning, Placement and Case Review Regulations 2010.
  • A good working knowledge and understanding of legislation relating to the care, education, health and development of children and young people including statutory LAC guidance, PEPs and missing protocols.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of child development issues including attachment, trauma and separation.
  • Good understanding of health and safety policies and procedures including fire safety, COSHH, food hygiene, risk assessment.
  • First aid qualified.
  • Understanding of Therapeutic Parenting, inc PACE or other models of working with traumatised children.
  • Understanding of attachment theory.
  • Attain therapeutic carer Practitioner status, through completion of the organisation’s therapeutic care programme.
