SUPPORT WORKER- RESIDENTIAL SERVICE TIPPERARY TOWN

MooreHaven was founded in 1981 to provide a day service for adults with mild to moderate intellectual disabilities. Today, the service provides day and residential services to over 120 service users and their families through the work of over 80 staff. MooreHaven currently has day facilities in Tipperary Town and Cashel and five residential homes in Tipperary Town.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • QQI Level 5 Qualification in Health Care.
  • 6 months experience in a similar role working with adults with an intellectual disability.
  • A full clean Irish/EU Driving Licence

Responsibilities

THE ROLE

We are currently recruiting a small team of full time (36 hours per week) and one part time (24hours per week) Support Workers for our Residential Service in Tipperary Town. This role will require flexibility to work day, evening shift, night shift / sleepover and weekend shift as per a set roster.
A strong commitment to caring and an empathetic understanding of those with an intellectual disability are essential attributes for this role.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • To contribute in a respectful and positive way to our service user’s well-being and development, treating all individuals availing of our service with dignity and respect.
  • To assist service user(s) in developing their Person Centred Plan and in achieving their goals.
  • To assist the service user(s) to be self-reliant and to foster their level of independence.
  • To provide direct practical help, support and guidance to individuals in their activities of daily living.
  • Develop community networks and encourage natural circles of support and actively search for opportunities for the person to make personally satisfying contributions through involvement in valued roles in their community.
  • Ensure that all accidents/incidents are reported promptly to the line manager.
  • To report any concerns you have for the safety and welfare of the service users of the MooreHaven Centre to the designated officer, in line with the National Policy, Safeguarding of Vulnerable Adults.
