Mō te tūranga | About the Role Rimu Service is located in Somerfield, close to the Hōhepa main campus, and is home to Margaret. This role involves providing 1:1 support within a home and community setting, with a strong focus on consistency, relationship‑building, and person‑centred support. Margaret is a vibrant woman in her 60s who enjoys being active in her community and thrives on having a predictable daily routine. She has a great sense of humour and enjoys simple pleasures such as baking, arts and crafts, and daily drives — particularly enjoying the fresh breeze while in the car. She also loves watching her favourite films, including The Sound of Music and Benji, and values her daily nap as part of her routine. Margaret can present with challenging behaviours at times, particularly when she feels unsettled or when there are changes to her routine. She takes time to build trust, so support workers need to bring patience, understanding, and consistency to their approach. You will be energetic, empathetic and able to work alongside this person focussing on creating a life of rich and diverse experiences while being able to read situations, problem solve and apply boundaries or offer space. Daily tasks include supporting with daily routines while encouraging independence to develop skills and personal growth. You will have the confidence to support personal cares, cooking, medication administration, and household tasks. This position's salary scale is set by pay equity and dependant on qualification level, pays between $23.95 and $29.10 per hour.
