Description

Rural Home Care is seeking a Personal Support Workers and Assistant across Southern Ontario. Please see below for details:

SKILLS:

  • Strong organizational skills
  • Be able to maintain standards of practice while under pressure
  • Be able to adapt to change and be flexible
  • Able to work with and understand the needs of various types of clients
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Work independently or as a team member
  • Maintain and work within their scope of experience
  • Follow policies and procedures to ensure a safe work and home environment
  • Excellent listening skills
  • Knowledge of using apps on phone
  • Understand that weekend work may/will be required
  • Have a valid driver’s licence and vehicle insurance
  • Possess a PSW certificate or “Life experience”
  • Enjoy working with seniors/special needs
  • Current CPR/First Aid certificates or willing to obtain it
  • Other certificates that will be helpful with the job (nail care, wound care etc.)
    Locations: Walkerton, Hanover, Kincardine, Meaford

Payrate: varies from client to client and location and shift, but generally:

  • $21.15/hour for a 4 hour or longer shift
  • $26.95/hour for 1 hr - 3.75hr shift

Education:

  • Secondary School (preferred)
  • PSW Certificate or Certificate in Health Care area

Experience:

  • supportive care: 2 years

Language:

  • fluent English (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

  • First Aid/ CPR Certification (preferred)

Responsibilities
  • Provide support and assistance to individuals in their homes or assisted living facilities
  • Assist with personal care tasks such as bathing, grooming, and dressing
  • Facilitate medications according to prescribed schedules
  • Prepare meals and assist with feeding if necessary
  • Assist with light housekeeping duties, including cleaning and organizing
  • Provide companionship and engage in activities with clients
  • Monitor and report any changes in client’s condition or behavior
  • Follow care plans and instructions provided by supervisors or as outlined by clients
    Qualifications:
    *PSW License or experience as a personal support assistant/ aid
    *Must have First Aid/ CPR certification or be willing to acquire it
  • Previous experience in home care or caregiving is a must
  • Knowledge of medication administration and senior care practices
  • Ability to provide compassionate care to individuals with dementia or other cognitive impairments
  • Strong communication skills, verbal, written and listening and ability to work well in a team as well as independently
  • Ability to follow instructions and adhere to safety protocols
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays if required
