CLV is seeking a support worker who is patient, sociable, and has a good sense of humor and enjoys banter. You should be comfortable with re-directing appropriate behavior in public (i.e.: knowing when to keep our thoughts to ourselves; respectful language). You should have skilled in healthy prompting of household duties, and be comfortable doing ‘with’ and not ’supervising’ these tasks. Someone who is able to communicate with S in a way that is direct, but also casual would be the best approach.

Education:

• Evening shifts (4 pm start) will required you to pick up individual from work in Langford, doing a fun activity in Langford followed by driving him home (Location is Sooke & mileage can be compensated).
• Day shifts will be focused on getting the individuals house hold chores done. Dishes and laundry are the most important and biggest challenges to stay on task. Following these, a fun activity or walking his dog can certainly be enjoyed!
• Be prepared to support both outdoor and indoor activities depending on weather and individual needs
• Follow health and safety protocols, including seizure response procedures
• Maintain a person-centered approach that respects the individual’s pace, preferences, and communication style

  Expected hours: 10 – 30 per week
