1x Support staff in unit – 3-4 days shifts per week -Monday to Sunday – wages £112 per shift (shift timings 7 am to 3 pm and 2.30 pm to 10.30 pm)

Responsibilities

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB

To provide emotional and practical support to young people who are Looked After by the Local Authority. Undertaking a range of practical tasks; assisting with assessment and casework processes. To provide advice, support, and guidance to young people, and help empower young people to take more control over their lives to become independent.

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITY AND PERSONAL DUTIES

  1. Help with advice/preparing nutritional meals.
  2. Help keeping the flat clean and tidy. Helping with laundry and household chores
  3. Advice on Health and Safety issues.
  4. To provide practical and emotional support to young people.
  5. To monitor the young persons progress.
  6. To help empower young people
  7. To provide advice to young people and relevant information on resources and to refer them on if appropriate.
  8. To maintain accurate and relevant information on a young person on a weekly basis and to provide monthly report to social worker/Local Authority and any reports needed for court etc.
  9. To identify the need of involvement with other services and agencies.
  10. To regularly liaise with social worker/Local Authority and other agencies.
  11. To undertake home visits also to families if appropriate.
  12. To assist social workers with specific tasks in relation to their case work/care plan e.g. attending court, supervising contact between young person and family. Assistance with DSS etc
  13. To regularly advise the Manager/Supervisor of SAS of developments and changes in the cases and according to need.
  14. To attend such meetings, in relation to the young person as required.
  15. To contribute with the whole team in ensuring that people from ethnic and other minorities are not discriminated against in the access to services, and receive services that are appropriate to their needs.
  16. To attend, contribute and participate fully in supervision.
  17. To advocate on behalf of young people.
  18. To be able to work flexibly and creatively with young people.
  19. To organize my own work and meet deadlines.
  20. To support young people in training/education.
  21. To monitor the young person’s progress and notify the Manager of any concerns.
  22. Commitment to equal opportunities.
  23. Ability to establish effective interpersonal relationships with a range of people e.g. young people or other professionals.
