Job Description

As a Support Worker placed by The Ag3ncy, you will provide direct care and support to children and young people living in residential settings. Your role includes:

  • Assisting with daily living tasks such as meal preparation and supporting children’s education and activities
  • Building positive, trusting relationships with children to support their emotional and social development
  • Promoting independence, positive behaviour, and life skills
  • Maintaining detailed records, reports and communicating effectively with managers and multidisciplinary teams
  • Following safeguarding policies rigorously and reporting any concerns immediately
  • Adhering to health and safety guidelines to ensure a safe environment for children and staff

Contact with Children & Safeguarding
This role involves regular and direct contact with children in vulnerable situations. You will be responsible for safeguarding these children by strictly following The Ag3ncy’s and client policies. You must be vigilant, proactive, and confident in raising concerns about child welfare.
Pay/Salary
£12.21- £15.00 per hour, dependent on experience and qualifications

Training Provided

  • Full induction covering safeguarding, health & safety, and children’s rights
  • Ongoing training including safeguarding children and young people, first aid, behaviour management, and medication administration

Checks and Compliance

  • Enhanced DBS check is mandatory and will be conducted on successful applicants
  • This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and Exceptions Order 1975 — all cautions and convictions must be declared
  • Identity and right to work checks will be completed prior to placement

Person Specification

Essential Skills:

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to follow care plans and demonstrate patience and empathy
  • Competent in recording and reporting information accurately
  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently when required

Experience:

  • Previous experience working with children, especially in residential or care settings, is preferred but not essential if you can demonstrate strong transferable skills

  • Respect for confidentiality and professional boundaries
  • Flexible, reliable, and willing to adapt to the needs of children and the home environment

Desired Skills:
UK driving licence
Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care (or equivalent)
