Description

We have an excellent career opportunity for the role of Support Worker to join our amazing team at Avalon Group working in Wakefield & Surrounding Areas.

DID YOU KNOW THAT YOU DO NOT REQUIRE CARE EXPERIENCE TO WORK WITH US AT AVALON GROUP? WE’RE VERY MUCH INTERESTED IF YOU’RE A KIND, RELIABLE, HONEST AND DEDICATED PERSON.

Pay rates start at £12.27 an hour with weekends, evenings, and nights paid at a higher hourly rate. We also pay Non-Customer Contact Time between consecutive sessions of support which are less than 2 hours, and double pay on Bank Holidays.
Contract: This is a permanent role with a contract
Shift patterns: We are supporting customers early as 8am in the morning till 9pm at night.
To make it fair for all staff we do require a degree of flexibility with shift patterns to meet the requirements of the people we care for. Staff are required to work every other weekend.
Shifts vary based on the needs of the service and can be variable. However rotas are sent out 2 months in advance, and a typical full time worker will always have 2 days off together.
Hours: We offer part time hours as well as full time hours. Weekly hours can vary but are tracked monthly. E.g., someone working full time may not work exactly 37 hours per week but will work 148 hours over the month.

Responsibilities
  • We deliver community based support to individuals to enable them to remain in their own home as part of the local community.
  • We do not offer short calls as we recognise the value that therapeutic relationships have on the people we support. This support could be around managing a tenancy, ensuring medication is taken as prescribed, and being part of the local community.
  • Our customer may have physical support needs, or need support to manage poor mental health, or other barriers that can prevent feeling included in their community.
  • Our carers must be comfortable with personal care (male & female) and must be able to cook the foods that customers require.
