Description

DO YOU WANT THE OPPORTUNITY TO BE PART OF A FANTASTIC TEAM, WITH EXCITING OPPORTUNITIES AROUND TRAINING AND PROGRESSION?

We are seeking to recruit an experienced support worker to join our existing team. George Williams House is a self-contained accommodation unit for 15 households. The role of Support Worker is an inspirational one and key to achieving outcomes for vulnerable clients. As a motivated and dynamic Support Worker you will be responsible for working closely with our young people and families, developing and delivering a programme of high-quality support which promotes clients’ choice and control. Young People and Families are referred to our service due to experiencing homelessness, for a multitude of reasons.
Our aim is to support young people and families by providing a settled period of accommodation during which time staff can help them to develop their capacity, self-esteem and life skills to enable them to live independently in the community.
We are an Ofsted Registered Service, as part of ‘The Supported Accommodation (England) Regulations 2023’. This introduces national standards, inspection arrangements for providers of supported accommodation for looked after children and care leavers aged 16 and 17. The four standards are Support, Protection, Leadership & Management and Accommodation.

THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE(S) WILL BE ABLE TO DEMONSTRATE:

  • Knowledge of the benefits system and an understanding of supported housing funding streams and reporting requirements
  • Be committed to supporting our residents within Policies, Procedures and Ofsted Regulations, which underpin the 8 key principles of Supported Accommodation.
  • Legislation relating to Health & Safety and safeguarding of residents and staff
  • Knowledge of the main support needs which are commonly faced by homeless and vulnerable individuals and be able to risk assess and support plan with residents of the service.
  • A positive attitude and a high level of motivation towards supporting vulnerable residents to achieve focussed and positive life outcomes.
  • The ability to work in a busy environment, be solutions focused, show good time management skills and demonstrate the ability to prioritise and make decisions under pressure
  • Proficiency in a range of IT packages including Microsoft Office.
